New York, NY - the most diversed city in the world. only where you can find the best in the world and the worst. in which you will have the best point of view on what the whole world is -together. one of the most expensive to live. if you survives living in new york, you can survive anywhere else.

Tough one.
You should choose a city which is right for you. Do you like dangerous windsurfing and, heat waves, good food and power outages, consider Chicago this time of year... Do you like Crazy record breaking heat temperatures and cheerleaders? Visit Dallas... The occasional Hurricane, ZZtop, interested in Oil? How about Houston! Dig the Red Sox, interested in the origin of our country, Live music but not necessarily the least expensive place on that list to live, good food, Basketball (hey, this place doesn't sound that bad come to think of it?)... then maybe Boston.
Personally, I'm more or less from Albany - you won't want to live there (Crowded, crime rate not the best, etc...), north of there maybe... Clifton Park, Saratoga Springs, Queensbury, Lake George, Plattsburgh... Montreal... they are more interesting, climate is good, 4 seasons guaranteed...enjoy swimming, clubbing, biking, motorcycle touring, camping, hiking, eating out, concerts, skiing, boating, shopping, everything in between... Which of these cities is the best? You decide but I think a good 'ol American City say in North Carolina isn't such a bad idea. But near a cluster of major cities is also a huge plus (think international airports also).
I just recommend you pick something within your budget, that offers work, plenty of things to do, good social atmosphere, good to moderate weather, less risky (death rate, natural disasters, etc), good schools, etc.
-Good Luck
keep in mind, it's all relative (and one's impression of any place could change with every attempt)

Out of the list you have up, I'd pick either Chicago or Denver.
But you've neglected to add the Tampa Bay area in Florida. Go to http://www.visittampabay/ and http://www.tampabaybeaches.com/ to see why.
