I don't know which state you live in, but if you can find dursban at the hardware store, it is a very effective pesticide. In some states the exterminator lobby has convinced the legislators to outlaw the product except of course for professional exteminators.

The stuff is easy to use, and can be diluted to about a 1 percent concentration. You spray it along baseboards and in the corners of cabinets, under appliances, and anywhere you don't keep unprotected food. I live on the Gulf Coast and we have great big roaches that sometimes come into the house. Thanks to Dursban the only ones I see are dead.

The stuff that Walmart sells just isn't strong enough. If you can afford about 50 bucks, try Maxforce and Avert. That's what it costs to buy them together. One is a gel where you don't have to unload all your cabinets. The other has a straw so you can inject it into crevices around pipes under the kitchen sink or bathroom sink etc. Below are some links to them. Other companies may have a better price, so shop around, but they are cheaper than an exterminator.

Do not leave used dishes, cups and other utensils in the sink. Cockroaches thrive in dark areas, so never store your garbage inside cabinet drawers unless you want your roaches to shop in it just like you do in Walmart. Lastly, make sure you clean up your place regularly especially the floor and eating areas... Prevention is the key!

I don't know where you live, but in GA I buy a product called "DemonWP" from a store that sells do-it-yourself-pesticides. You might look under the heading "Pesticide" in the phonebook for a similar store This costs $17 and you can apply it yourself. It consists of an envelope with 4 packets and each packet makes 1 gallon of spray. You'll need a pressurized spray tank that you can get from Wal-Mart, the kind that you pump with the handle on top. You just drop in one packet for each gallon of water in the sprayer. They dissolve and you never need to open or touch the poison! For safety sake, please wear gloves and eye and nose protection. Better to be safe than sorry!

I sprayed my house last Aug. 05 and after a couple of weeks, I didn't see ANY kind of bugs. It forced all kinds of bugs out in the floor to die, and eventially we stopped seeing them. No roaches, ants, spiders-nothing for almost 6 months!! This leaves a barrier that will kill any of the listed bugs that crawl across it. There was no odor, either, since I'm sensitive to that kind of smell.

I used about 3 gal. and sprayed ALL the walls and around doors & windows on the outside of my house, around the baseboards inside, under sinks, around doors and windows, and across doorways. I really wanted to kill every bug in every hideyhole, and it worked! I'm waiting for our heatwave to ease before I venture to do this a second time, since I've noticed a couple of bugs recently.

The guy at the store told me, "If they stop making this stuff, I'll go out of business!" He sells more of it than any other pesticide!

I hope this helps!

Have you tried boric acid? You need to fill all the cracks, crevices and corners, and it can't get wet. But generally that is the best approach. Once you get all the boric acid down, you could then set off some bug bombs to kill everything in the immediate area.

Call an exterminator. By the time you buy the powders, sprays, and bombs, which do not work!!!, you could have had an exterminator in for about $100. I learned this the hard way with a flea infestation.

Guaranteed roach killer...

Takes two blocks of wood approx. 1" square.
Place roach on top of one block of wood.
Smoosh it with other block of wood.

Works every time.

get some boric acid powder and leave that out in a paper plate for them to crawl through. they take it back to the nest and all die.

also you can mix together powdered sugar and baking soda on a plate- that kills them one by one.

Call an exterminator. They may be resistant to household pesticides.
