as a Marine. They will try( with supporting from rich conservatives who never serve) to elect someone else in his home district. Why do so many cowards wrap themselves up in the American Flag? Murtha is a Marine and a good man who has been emotionally touched by the sight of fellow Marines coming home in body bags and on stretchers. He has spent time with maimed Marines in VA hospitals. George W.(missed all those meetings) Bush has not taken the time to meet with our fallen heroes. Maybe it is because it does not provide the photo op of an air craft carrier with a banner saying "Mission Accomplished ." behind him does.

Nettie: I was a Marine in Vietnam. I always appreciate being called a coward by a teeny bopper like you. Is it a real struggle shopping in the mall these days, and not getting your nails done right. Damn, the world is just not fair to the conservatively smug.

It was mostly a rant. However, Murtha has been a staunch supporter of the military for most if not all his terms in his office.
This is why the administration and the conservative base has come after him with so much vitriol. He has served, and well. I held a buddy in my arms while he was being flown out of harms way. No one in this administration has gone through this. That is part of the problem. It is one thing to talk the talk, and another to walk the walk. Most who have criticised my position have never worn a uniform.

Gosh. I am sorry. I do remember serving with a young George W. Bush in Vietnam. What a hero he was. I could I have forgotten. Dick Cheney was my commanding officer. What a Marine he was.

Let's review GWB was 22 in a clas of 53 pilots and he flew 326.4 as a pilot and 9.9 as a co-pilot in the F-102a which was being phased from service. This was for training purposes and his certification would lapse as would his attendance to the training. It seems the military paid GWB to train on the front line of politics in Alabama. He was re-stationed in Alabama and then lost his flight status when he failed to show up for a required medical exam during the cocaine years. They would do a documentary on Bush's active military record but it seems he doesn't have one despite numerous claims to the contrary. It's so much easier to attack the records of those who actually have one that isn't scripted speeches with men and woman of the military service wiht banners in the background. I'm ashamed to say many in this generation have been numbed to the realities the military faces compliments of an administration that has taken them hostage through bad policies created in air conditioned offices. Shame on Mr. Murtha for exposing the realities we all know from a distance exist in war but don't want to really deal with. It shows what we've become when a marine sues a general of 30 years for defamation. How many more GI's are going to be tried for war crimes while their superiors sit in offices practicing their "this won't be tolerated" speech ? Charges are expected on the Haditha case within the month the solider filing the defamation suit will have to prove he's innocent. In 2004 Bush was quoted as saying "I've been to war. I've raised twins. If I had a choice, I'd rather go to war." he did have a choice he chose to aggressively evade it and continues to lie about it. The fact they are now aggressively attacking John Murtha tells me yet again they can't hold up any solid substantial evidence in their defense. They do what they've done over and over they attack the others credibility. The tragic lemming aspect of this how many people will fall for it. Your responses to this question alone are evidence of that. It's the same old defense "Bill got a ********" or " Kerry was a coward" this because he wasn't mortally wounded in Vietnam at least he showed up at the roll call. At least he wrote a letter of intent requesting active duty rather then one requesting deferment. As for GWB's treatment of the military his meeting with women like Cindy Sheehan isn't a special act it's an obligation you have when you send soldiers off to die. This administration has betrayed the military in action internationally and yet again at home but it wasn't John Murtha his offense was even suggesting the reality of our soldiers to a black and white conservative. We could very well be losing the "hearts and minds" in Iraq but we're winning the war on gay marriage, stem cell research and abortion. You may not like Jane Fonda but at least she had the balls to show up on point, her active duty record is more active then GWB's, they'll be tearing her record apart next.

Being a ex-Marine does not make someone perfect. Murtha is an idiot & an old man who needs to shut up. That is according to a class of 122 US Army Ranger class graduates. I spoke with them personally, when my son graduated - there was one dissenting vote. I do not care how long he served, the harm he does now is not excused by past service.
Kerry joined to beat the draft after using all his student deferrments & he is self serving. He even keeps trading up wives for more money, that last wife was no trade up except in money & he still could not buy the presidency.

Some Marine he is. Only a coward would stab 8 of his brothers in the back. Ask the 7 Marines and 1 Navy corpsman about that. Sure, he has spent time with the injured soldiers, as it is good publicity for trying to promote himself. This is why I call him a coward. Maybe he forgot what it is like to fight in a foreign land, either way, he should not have pronounced our boys guilty before they had their day in court. I would like to believe that a true Marine would support his brothers.

They're also going after James Webb who is running for the US Senate from Virginia as a Democrat.
Former Marine Jim Webb was one of Ronald Reagan's Navy Secretaries and earned the Navy Cross and Silver Star in Vietnam among other medals.

I don't know much about John Murtha, but I will find out by looking into what he says and does.
Kerry's lies can be found , just by listening to all his speeches.
It also was proved that the things said about Bush not serving, were lies. Just like a Democrat, Lie and run with it!

They went after Cleland a paraplegic who lost his limbs in Viet Nam, called McCain a coward who was begging for mercy in a Viet Cong prison camp, smeared John Kerry and now they're going after Murtha. These chicken hawks who never served a day in combat have no shame. My question is: why does it work? What is wrong with the people who buy into these smears and lies?

The Swift Axe Veterans for MisTruth are the most dishonorable individuals to wear a uniform, and their pockets are lined with cash dropped by a flock of ultra-con chicken hawks. To have men like Murtha who've fought, served, and suffered for the protection of this country slandered by sell-outs is one of the most vile and embarassing things to witness. If there is a Hell, the Swifties are headed down on a swift boat indeed.......

You sir are a liar. President Bush has met with the wounded soldiers. I don't give a darn about murtha, he is nothing but a retired military guy who is now in politics. He's not running for office he words do nothing but tear down. I've known many Senior grade officers and they are not all hero's by any stretch of the imagination. Murtha is obvious your hero, that's great, but don't lie about my President and his feelings for his soldiers.

So from all your research, you've never seen our greatest President ever with the troops? Fallen or other wise? Look again
He's visited troops at the VA hospitals, he's even been to Iraq twice. So before you start spouting your uneducated hatred please do a little research and learn the truth

You're a shallow and silly little man. Murtha is a fool and a blowhard, getting senile in his old age. And he will lose the election this November, chalking up another easy victory for Republicans.
Y'all keep talking, please.
