I am on the pill and am thinking of switching of an IUD. Is there anyone who can give me some feedback on their experience good or bad?

these people dont know what they are talking about, lmao!
I am getting the mirena IUD next week, ive read all about it and spoke to serveral drs. Basically, its good when you already have a kid because there is a tiny risk that it could puncture your uterus and cause you to be infertile. but there are risks with every kind of bc. Several women died from the patch recently. Its good if you dont want kids in the next 5 yrs or so, because thats how long you can have it in.You want to get it while you are on your period because your cervix is dialated a bit and makes insetion easier, it may give you mild cramps the first day or two, but its not expected to be severe. If it was it wouldnt be a simple office visit. Its a small piece of copper that is in the shape of a T.There are two types, mirena doesnt have any estrogen, and the other does but i do not recall the name of it.and it is expected a yr or so after inserting on that your period get much lighter, or even stop. You can make sure its in place by using your finger to feel the string, and if for any reason its uncomfortable, you can simply call the OB and they will take it out immediatly.

Take a attempt. in case you're pregnant, which isn't likely, the two you expelled the IUD throughout your final era or that's somewhat out - you ought to be waiting to palpate the ends of the strings popping out of your cervix perfect now, in the event that they are not there you in all likelihood are pregnant.

As long as you qualify.
Aka you've never had an infection...
Because IUD's can cause infections.
They hurt on insertion, cramps etc..
There is still a risk for pregnancy, even though it is low, and you could possibly have the IUD stuck in to the baby's scalp.
Usually we don't recommend people who have never had a child to have an IUD insertion. Usually we insert them in to those who recently had a child and want to breast feed, as we don't have to redialate their cervix.
