O.K. the jocks in my grade have messed with me every since my freshman year (high school) and still mess with me but not as bad. I am entering my junior year. Class of '08! I am a nerd and I already have low self esteem and when they make fun of me (pretty much a daily bases) that makes me feel even smaller and nothing. Why are they so rude to me? I have never been mean to them.

Don't take it personally, they are just trying to make themselves feel better because they lack brains. In the long run of life, high school doesn't last that long and they know past these few years they will amount to nothing whereas you will go on to make something of yourself. See, I was not one of the girls that anyone paid attention to other than to pick on in high school because I was a nerd too. But now, I run into guys that picked on me then and they ask me why we never dated so in the long run you will be the one with the last laugh...don't let them bother you and bring you down. They aren't worth the worry

How do you react when they do this. I moved during my second year of middle school and a group of girls decided to make me a target. When they bugged me I acted bored and ignored them. It about two weeks they gave up and picked on another target. I now teach middle school and I have noticed that the targets of bullying usually give a reaction. I know it is hard, they are jerks, but try to completely ignore the tease and look bored. If you give no reaction they might get bored. Since you call yourself a nerd I imagine you are a good student. They are probably jealous of how well you do in school. Just think in a year they will be has been their glory days behind them and you will be going on to the best years of you life in college. They have a future of "do you want fries with that" and you don't. Hang in there.

kids can be mean these days. i got teased a lot also when i was in high school. you have to be the bigger person, don't let them know that it is getting to you. encase yourself with a few close friends. when you are done with high school, you will not have to talk to any of the jocks again, but you can always rely on your close friends.
i have been out of high school now for 10 years, and there are 3 people that i still talk to from there, the rest can eat my dirt.
keep your chin up, and don't let them get you down. perhaps you should go and talk to a counselor to help you with your self-esteem. you need to love yourself before you can love anyone else.
you seem to have a good head on your shoulders, keep that chin up!!!!!!

Ignore them and know you are better than they are. They are low lifes who have nothing better else to do.

I am the type of person who faught back with words when I was bullied or so. Eventually they didn't want to mess with me. Especially when I had to wear my heart monitor for 2 days and once they realized that, they left me a lone. Reason why? If they cause me to have a heart attack/heart failure or any other type of body function that causes medical attention asap, they will be charged in court of law for causing it.

Talk with a few teachers and have a few teachers discuss topics like this in class. Take 10 mins and discuss bulling and hurting others because they can't love and care for themselves.

The joy of HS....don't worry once you are out of HS none of that crap will matter...try not to let them get to you and enjoy HS just being you!

Years from now if you go to a reunion you can see how happy and fulfilled in life you are and the losers who have nothing better to do then put others down will have sad pathetic lives.

HS is only 4 years. Though it seems like an eternity at times it will not be the part of your life that defines your life unless you let it.

Be you, have fun, forget them, no regrets! That is how you want to end your HS career...

There is something about you that is making them pay attention to you. They may not know how to react to what is attracting them to you, so they are acting out (nervous reaction, have to look better in front of their peers) Just remember, they are attracted to you in some way. So stand up with confidence and just know that you ARE beautiful!
And if you need a confidence booster, go to a spa for a day, manicure, pedicure, facial.

I think that people who make fun of others do so because of their own insecurities. It's an insight that I most definately didn't have when I was in school, but looking back as an adult, I'd say that it's almost always true.

I know what it's like to be picked on -- believe me. Do your best to ignore them. Don't give them the satisfaction of knowing that they're getting to you. Be yourself! If they feel the need to be jerks, than they aren't worth your time. I'm sure there are LOTS of people out there that appreciate you for who you are!! Keep your chin up :)
