OK, a few simple things.

#1 Lack of airflow.

#2 Low on refrigerant. Loss of freon must come from a leak, it cannot just disappear. If the service tech tells you it is low, have him show you the leak and tell you how he can fix it.

#3 Running the thermostat too low. I know most of the time you will have less problems if you keep the setting above 70 degrees. Just about all residential systems will be overworked when the outside temperature passes 95 deg. At this temperature you might only get 15 to 20 degrees of cooling and everything had better be up to par.

Are your filters clean?
Is your unit getting the airflow that it needs.
Are any of the return air ducts blocked?
When is the last time you had your duct work inspected for cleaning?

This is a comfort product, if it don't make you cool, get some help. It will cost you $75 - $125 , to get it checked.

If you keep running it when its frozen, it can burn out your compressor. Then you can pay $500 - $1000 . Pay me now or pay me later.

Ok, I doubt that the unit is under warranty. 4 years is still new but warrantys generally do not go much longer than 1 year.

Freezing up is likely the cause of a plugged air filter, a dirty evaporator coil(coil on top of furnace section), a loose blower motor fan belt, dirty blades on the squirrel cage, or a possible refrigerant leak. You should be able to rule out these by yourself. If it is a refrigerant leak you can spray a soapy water solution on the pipes and if you see bubles form and get larger that means there is a leak there.

check your filter. Blocked air flow will cause freeze up. If air flow is ok you have a bigger problem, probably a refrigerant leak.
