I have a friend who likes to talk a lot and for a long time. I want to remain friends with her but can't stand that everytime I have to phone her I have to be on the phone for about 2 hours. I don't know how to cut the conversation short because it seems so rude because she's always telling me about something serious that's happenning in her life. Are there any politer ways? I'm not above even saying a little white lie, just to save the friendship.

I have a friend who is the same way! Here are the top ten methods I use,

1 "Whoops, those Tacos I just ate just hit my system, gotta hit the bathroom!"

2. Somebody at my door

3. Got another call coming in (If you don't have caller I.D., say your cell phones ringing)

4. I am expecting an important call.

5. I have company coming over soon! Gotta get the house tidied up.

6. I'm really not feeling well right now, I need to go lay down.

7. The dog wants to go out!

8. (If you have a cordless phone) My phone charge is very low! I gotta get it back on the cradle before we get cut off.

9. I think I smell something burning! I better go check my dinner on the stove!

10. I think some kids are goofing around in my backyard, I better go see what's going on. Talk to you later.

Hope those help! Of course, there have been times I have also just flat out told him his big mouth was getting on my nerves, and I had to get off the phone before I said something that would kill our friendship! Do what you have to do.

When you answer the phone and hear her on the other end. Most conversations begin with What are you doing?
Tell her right off that you have an errand to run in "so many minutes", you have an appointment to keep and you have to be there at___o'clock. You've promised ____,to do___________ and you don't have much time to get ready. or sometimes, just say I'll call you later, I really don't feel like talking right now. You've given her advanced warning about your plans, and when that amount of time is over, just say I'll talk to you later I've got to run.

If the phone call comes at night (meaning after 9:00) tell her you have to go to sleep and that you are exhausted with either school or work. If the phone comes before that time tell her you have to go eat dinner and that you will talk to her tommorrow. If the phone comes before dinnertime then tell her it is your turn AGAIN to help make dinner. Sometimes if you run out of excuses then just tell her that someone is at the door and that you will continue the convo tommorrow.

First get caller id. If its her dont answer unless you have time. Or if you are on the phone with her tell her someone else is calling and you have to go or have someone who is with you yell your name and say something like Help or hey I need the phone. Good luck hope it helps

Right now I'm talking to my friend Micah and she talks and talks too. If I were you I'd would hang up and when she calls you then say Oh , my phone just hung up by it's self. It always works to me.
