I like Mel Gibson and think he is a wonderful actor and director, but I think he is wrong for doing what he did. If he KNOWINGLY got that inebriated and got behind the wheel (possibly endangering himself or others) and spoke profanely to the police officers that stopped him, I think he deserves to suffer the consequences. No matter whether your are a well known celebrity or an average joe, God gave us common sense for a reason. Those who do not use it are at fault, and they can't blame anyone else for the choices that they made. I do however think that it was very mature and professional of him to publicly apologize----it's just a shame he let himself get into a situation that he had to apologize for in the first place.
