When people start cults to feel as if they belong, you can often get stereotyped into those catagories depending on what you wear and what you do. Even if what you are wearing and listening to is just you and your idea completely innate and original you may often be accused of being 'goth'/emo or something similar. My favourite colour is black, my entire wardrobe is black, i think hip-hop is amazing and I listen to marylin manson too. But i hate labels and I am not goth.
So look at it this way: You may feel self-conscious about what you are wearing or listening to because even though you are being yourself, people are accusing of being a 'goth' wanna be. But if you were to stop and try to act more 'normal' it is only then that you would be lying to yourself and not being yourself. So ignore these people, and just be yourself. People will see that soon enough. And if they don't: no loss!

You know what you are, and if you have doubts obviously you're not who you think you are. Choose music that you like - don't listen to it just to be able to brag that you listen to it. Plus, being goth isn't about wearing all black...that's for poseurs. If you were a true goth you'd know what you were representing. Most teenagers a bit clueless on this part, so here we go - read this and study up!

Girl... be yourself... who cares what anyone else says?!! They wanna call you goth.. let them. I am a person that listens to every kind of music...and I dress how ever I wanna dress and don't care what anyone says! You have to do you first - if your friends wanna put u down cuz of the things you like - then it's time to get some new friends!

music like marilyn manson probably doesnt mean your goth you would have to wear the lipstick finger nail polish and chains on your pants and hang in a group with them and whatever else they do but all black maybe your trying to hide something and it makes you look on the dark side to your friends wear colorful jewelry .

No.Just because someone wears all black, that doesn't mean they're goth.It just means you're wearing what you wanna wear.Don't listen when they say you're just a wannabe. If u wanna be a goth, but listen to hip hop at the same time, you're still a goth, but you listen to hip hop...
Hope I helped!:)

Most of the Goth people I've known were seriously depressed or depressing... Why ruin yourself like that?
To each their own. Do whatever makes you happy ~ and I don't mean a childish "I can do whatever I want and this is how I'm gonna show you" happy. It's short lasting and detrimental in the end.
Hope you grow out of it.
