my dvds will not play. the light turns on that idacates that it is workin', but nothin happens. if i need to clean tell me how

Theory 1:
You may want to check your DVD software. The Autoplay selection may be turned off.
I don't know how this is done however. Every program is different.

Theory 2:
Put the DVD in your drive. Open the DVD software and press the play button if possible.

Theory 3:
Take out the DVD and clean it gently with a clean rag. No water or window cleaner!

Otherwise, I don't know enough info to help.

have you been playing dvd's fro different regions.

if you have and been switching back forth from say us to euro more than three times you are screwed.

the dvd player you have will be useless.

You can buy a cleaning kit (disc and spray) from any music store or Wal-Mart. I think your disc lens is dirty.

you need cyberlink powerdvd. you can get it for free if you just do a little searching :)
