Diet Coke and Mentos?

Does it really work? How do you set it up? Someone walk me through the process :-)

Diet soda is used because it's not as sticky. Any soda will work. It has to do with the surface area of the mentos and the carbonation of the soda.

take a 2 litter bottle of diet coke and about 7 mentos. Put a hole in the top of the coke bottle and put holes in the middle of the mentos so a fishing line will fit through. Hang the mentos on the fishing line through the hole in the top of the coke bottle. When you are ready drop the mentos into the diet coke bottle. The smaller the hole in the bottle the longer and taller the stream will shoot. I've done this and it works very well

The easiest way to do it is to find a tube about the same size of the mentos. Line 5 of them up inside the tube and put a piece of paper underneath. Then put the tube on the open bottle, take the piece of paper away, and stand back!
Voila! You've turned a bottle of diet coke and some mentos into a sticky sidewalk or driveway.

Open diet coke 2 liter.
Put 4-6 mentos in a tube if you can or in a plastic scoop.
Pour in rapidly
run fast
watch the fountain.
Do outside or you will stain the ceiling

9 mentos. Thread them onto a thin wire, so that you can lower them into the bottle. Put a nice hole right in the middle of the screw on cap.

After you've threaded the mentos onto the wire, put the rest of the wire through the hole in the cap.

Pout out enough diet coke so that, when you first replace the cap/mentos wire rig, the mentos aren't touching the soda.

Hold onto the bottle, let the mentos & wire fall into the soda - instant soda fountain!

I saw it on good morning America. Two liter diet Coke. One pack of mentos. Open the coke, throw in the mentos and stand back. Better do it outside.

yea works awesome . the best way to do it is to get a test tube where the mentos slide easy and a two liter in an open area. onscrew the cap to the 2 liter and quickly poor all mentos in . after that step back and look up it goes about 10 feet up

I did this with PEPSI and MENTOS in science class it ws crazy. I dont really remember the exact process but, they had 2 L bottles of Pepsi andabout 2packs of mentos and they poured them down the bottle through a tube thing all at a time and it shot up! It was awesome. I love science =)

Take a whole roll of mentos...drop them all in a 2 liter of diet coke and prepare to be amazed. I did it with certs, and it also worked. I think any 'mint' will do the trick.
