In this day and age of tighter budgets, it is necessary to tighten the wallet where you can. It's good to teach your child early on the importance of being "thrifty," so that she may have a better head on her shoulders about money later in life. If style is what concerns you, then do this. Choose clothing that is "basic" or "classic" like good old blue jeans and simplistic styled shirts. Can't go wrong with those old standbys. And you could always observe what other children are wearing this season...try to select styles that you know are still being worn. Otherwise, stop worrying, you sound like great parents who are doing what they can to offer a comfortable life for your children. You are also setting the example now for how important college is! Way to go!

Not at all! You can actually find some really good bargains and quality brand clothing at thrift stores if you look carefully! A lot of people donate brand new clothing to Goodwill, I know I have! And I've found some great stuff as well!

Goodwill is an excellent choice and the way children dress now it is very appropriate. Look in fashion magazines or catalogs and duplicate styles you see. Also large thrift sales such as church ones have a lot of childrens clothes. People with money that have children often donate very expensive clothes. Someday you be financially stable and your young child will never know where you got her clothes.

NOT AT ALL!!! :)
I say if you can find the basics (jeans, tshirts, sweaters) in her sizes at discount prices - then go for it! Even if your daughter is at the age where she's concerned about fashion and having "the right clothes" there will still be a lot of recent trendy tops and bottoms there. The Goodwill will often carry brand new clothes donated by local department stores (at least in my area) too. Good luck! :)

I don't think that there is anything wrong with it. I have been a bargain shopper my whole life, and some of the pieces I get complimented on the most are those that came from Goodwill, etc. Just look for name brands (there's usually a lot of GAP, Old Navy, etc), they usually wear better, and try not to buy anything too dated, unless that is the look you are going for.

that is my favorite store to shop at LOL I am not poor by far but I am not rich either. I just like to get the most for my buck and they do have name brand stuff there too might not be exsactly what your looking for but you can get some really cool stuff there.
I went there last week and got 10 brand name shirts there Nike adidas and a few other for little less then $15.00 and they were brand new! and even if they are not new they are in very very good condition . you got to look it over some at the store but that is plain sence. The only thing I have against that is that there is not one near me LOL I love it!! best buy of all.

No it wouldn't. You'll spend a lot less there than at Wal-Mart, Target or K-Mart too. Check out Ross, TJ Maxx, Big Lots or Marshalls if you have any of those stores nearby for cheaply priced clothes. A lot of the times, you can find brand new clothes with the tags still on or gently used clothes.

Your the Best. Hey... comes and goes out of style the day after next so what's the point of spending money on new clothes when you just end up wearing only 3 times the max. Encourage yoru kids that it's okay. Let them read what we all wrote maybe they'll give them some peace of mind. My mom use to buy me clothes from there and I use to myself too.... they have lots of interesting items besides clothes too. Hey, don't be dismayed. Your doing what's right.

If they are in good condition -- and cute of course. If you need to cut back a lot on money. But mix and match goodwill and like limited too (another cute store for smaller girls.) But also try kohls. They have cute stuff for her age and size for not very expensive. They always have sales. What ever floats your boat. good luck!

It is just fine. Not everyone can afford designer clothes, therefore they should not be pushed to do so by those who can. You can find lots of really good stuff at goodwill and other thrift stores. good luck.
