i mean, when we were younger we had idealistic dreams. but as we grow, we realize things. some give in. some dont. did you ever give up on your passion or some of your dreams (especially the idealistic ones)? what made you give them up? are you happy with your choice? if situations were otherwise, would you still give them up? why does man give up btw in general?

Young people aren't the only ones with idealistic dreams....and even then, is there anything wrong with having those, to feeding our hope at a young age, even if isn't likely that we will accomplish most of them? Maybe that's wrong with society, is because so many think that unlikely dreams shouldn't be dreamt because they're unlikely, that many don't aim as high because they're set up for failure? I'm sorry, I'm fourteen, and I hope that everyone will try for there most unlikely dream because I sure as Hell won't give up one them.....so in answer to your question, no I haven't, and I hope that by the end of my lifetime I can honestly say that I haven't ever given up on a passion.

I have never given up my dreams, especially the idealistic ones.
Some people call me strange but I don't care. I am not living my life to appear as normal as possible to other people. I am living for myself, who is the same person I will have to face on my deathbed.

Some people give up because of frustration and the fact that they can see no other way out or in, as the case may be. I have always been one to think, think, think...like a little Pooh Bear.
If I don't get my way going one direction, I will try it another way. Sometimes these things take years to accomplish but the satisfaction you get just from overcoming frustration is well worth it.
It may not be true that there is ALWAYS a way. But it is true that there is many more ways to scan a cat than you may think.

Yeah, all my life i wanted to be an actor. I had a really crap teacher in college who used to tell me how much I sucked. After awhile I began to believe her. i gave up on my dream of being an actor. i have tried many other professions and nothing made me happy. i ran into an old friend a few months back who was surprised i wasn't famous by now because i was "the most natually gifted actor he'd ever seen." I am back in the game again and never been more happy in my life. I'm starting at the bottom, but I'm enjoying working my way back up.
Sure, i may get a steady job someday so i can have a family and everything, but as of right now... I'm living life for the fun of it.

I would not say given up. It is on a shelf for now until my boys are a little older. They don't really need me all the time but teen years are full of turmoil and I want to be there during the times that just in case they do need me when decisions go bad or guidance is required. As soon as they are in college, I intend to take it off the shelf and complete my dream. Never too late, ya know. And, that will mean, I have more than one dream accomplished.

I think reality sinks in; you realize you're never going to be the type of person who has enough money to do the things you dreamed of or fantasized about, or you're just simply not the type person who will inspire someone to love you with an undying passion, or your lack of skill in chemistry means you'll never cure cancer. Whatever. But I also think we begin to realize the value of things that we initially thought to be mundane and ordinary. You find the most extraordinary joy sometimes in the most ordinary things, and you know that no dream or fantasy could compare.

We can't give up on our passion and our dreams. We must have a vision, a goal, a reason to continue. I have one or two dreams that I will always cling to. And though my passion may never be completely fulfilled I will hold it fast. One day I will realize my dreams or I will take them to the grave. But I will not give them up, I will not! And to cast my passion aside would destroy me.
We must have a vision. We must have a goal and a dream.

Yes. Opera was my world. I gave it up because of one prick voice teacher. I miss it very much. It's like a part of me has died.

I have moved on to other things and have learned to live without opera. But it has been like learning to live without your twin sister. Hard as hell.

Man gives up becasue of his natural instinct to belong to the herd. If the herd all has cell phones and the one doesn't he appears weak and the herd doesn't want weakness. If the herd thinks being an opera singer is a silly idea the eventually the herd will force it's views upon the opera singer.

We're all animals. The sooner we face this the sooner we can conquer our instincts and move on towards enlightenment.

Our world is full of distractions.

Do you suppose there’s a reason for that?

I wonder about it sometimes while I’m busy scurrying around trying to make enough money to survive.

But whenever I look around me I see shining examples of the reasons that I should continue making money . . . huh.

Well I guess I'll get back to work. I haven't got time to think.
