You sound like I did when I began driving. I thought " there is no way I am EVER going to feel comfortable driving!". But I promise, it gets BETTER and much easier. It becomes more second-nature. You need to keep in mind all the people you see driving everyday. They are not rocket-scientists or exceptiionally intelligent in any way. They are able to drive because it is not that hard. You need to take control and not let the car drive u, but u need to Drive The Car. Take things slowly, but gradually push yourself. You are not giving yourself enough credit. I don't know you, but I guarantee you have the capacity to be a very good driver, or at least pass the test. Just remember, always come to complete stops, don't go too f ast OR too slow, ALWAYS look over your shoulder before changing lanes, and constantly be aware of your surroundings. You will do fine. But, you need to get out there and practice or else you will neve learn. Driving is an essential thing in our society and you are going to have to learn sooner or later. Might as well be now. Good luck. I am sure you will do fantastically.

Okay, you might want to try to learn some deep breathing or relaxation exersises if your nervousness is really a problem. A little bit of nervousness is common especially for drivers tests. I have my permit too, I am taking a Drivers Ed class and I have done a lot of driveing and yet I'm still nervous about my Drivers test coming up.
If you've always had a problem with stress and nervousness there are a number of nature, herbal and botanical products you can buy to calm your nerves.
If you really don't like driving it probably because you get so nervous and you are just afraid to get behind the wheel. You've probably heard this before, but the more you drive the more comfortable you'll feel doing it.

If you can at all, you need to practise and drive some more. Even just sitting in the car a lot and maybe driving it forward and reverse a little will help better than nothing. If you can, practice in a parking lot. I was the same way when I was that age. After I learned, and got used to it, I stayed on the road as much as I could!

Obviously get out and practice.
Anyone in doubt that they can not drive shouldn't. They're the biggest causes of accidents, because they turn into the idiot drivers.
It's ok to be nervous while learning. But you should be prepared enough by the test that the only awkward feeling you have is of the examinators weird stare.

I would take a driver's ed class. A lot of my friends are pretty scared to drive certain places and yeah being a little nervous is common but you don't want to get so nervous that you accidentally get into a accident. I used to go driving really late at night when I felt people weren't up and I would drive for hours just to get use to it.

get a klunker of a car and get on a baseball diamond or a big flat dirt area after it has rained .
drive the hell out of the car and just keep at it until you learn how to handle it.
once you find out what the car will do, you will lose some of that fear of driving.
after that, you need to start practicing every afternoon and at night with someone you trust. if you know a truck driver, get him to ride with you.
dont take the test until you are ready. drive somewhere every day, no matter what.

You need to go out and drive a little more. Start in an empty parking lot if you are that nervous, and work your way upto driving down the street. Dont' be nervous, just be careful.

get over it....driving is not as complicated as you parent's make it sound, trust me...i drive for a living. Just try to relax and avoid the other idiots that are in your way. Practice on quiet streets with little traffic, and tell your parents to hush unless you ACTUALLY mess up. I remember how it was for me once I had my permit. it was funny for me because I grew up farming and had been driving for like 6 years before I got my permit....LOL

You just have to drive more... for me, driving on long stretches helped - like find a road that's long & not too busy & just drive for like 20 min-1 hr... the more you drive, the more comfortable you'll be with it... also, for me, I had to ask someone other than my parents to go with me because they were so nervous they made me nervous - so I went with a level-headed, patient, reasonable older person, and then I finally passed my driving test... like the fourth time I took it...
