I was convicted of felony burglary at age seventeen. I was hanging around with some guys one evening and did not use my better judgement.
I raised one fellow up to a window to get in a place and told them I did not want to go in. I left them there and went home. The next day they got caught and told on me also. I was convicted as an accesory to the crime . I am now 53 years old. I need to know what procedure that I can do to get this off my record.
I am sorry for what I did when I was youg but this is still following me all of my life. The coviction has caused me to lose a lot of jobs through out my life.
I need some help to help clear this from my record. Some one's help would be greatly appreciated.

In some countries, pardon can only be done out by the president. However, in the US there is the state pardon board. If it happens a long time and that you have a clear showing of repentance, they would decide whether to remove it from your record or not. Get ready with your evidences. It would work out more if you have a lawyer while going there, at least he could file a case to remove it from your records if the state pardon board doesn't agree with you.

Make sure that you have served your legal obligations for the crimes that you have committed and you will be all and well in no time.

contact the governors office in the state in which you were convicted. ask them to send you the required paperwork. you will file these forms with the local court in the county which you reside. if the state in which you were convicted does not respond to the papers or attend your court appointment, then generally you will have said conviction sealed. in california you have to wait 20 years after said conviction to file. also you must be free of any other felony convictions for the last 20 years (your state may have different laws) after all the paperwork is done-- the governor of the state will issue an order to seal your record (or a govt entity) then you can be bonded if need be.if you want to be able to own guns or go hunting be sure to stipulate this in your paperwork filed with the court. i am not an attorney-- and different states have different laws and the amount of time you have to be free of convictions. hope this helps- j.w.

You would need to contact your states pardons board.
They will give you a packet with all the infomation you will need.
I know here in Connecticut you only have one chance a year to get your application done and submitted.
It should be easy for you since its only one charge and it was long ago.
Just get your packet and follow directions carefully.
Its worth the effort.
I myself had a few dumb charges and was able to erase
my record.
All you need to do is a little footwork and find someone that can type.
You dont need a lawyer.
Good luck!

My advice is to speak to a lawyer and the best, most inexpensive way to do this is through Pre-Paid Legal Services. For more information visit the website below, and feel free to contact me through that site if you have further questions on how this service may be able to help you. I encourage you to find out what your rights and options are in this situation.

I wish you the best of luck.

Touigh luck. You were convicted and the record stays with you for life. Glad to see you ask the "question" though. Maybe someone else will learn from your experience.

You need to hire a lawyer, it will cost quite a bit of money.
