adequate business attire depends on the situation; for an interview, always wear your suit/tie or whatever it is you wear if you're a woman. If it's a casual dinner and you're already an employee, just put on a blazer, no tie needed but a collared shirt and dress pants is a must.

When in doubt, overdress since you can always take something off to make it casual.

A Grey worsted wool suit, white shirt, and plain navy blue tie, black lace up Oxfords with grey wool socks. A rolled up Man's umbrella is OK.

I hope you mean appropriate, not adequate....adequate refers to an ammount or quantity.
