If I say Christians are stupid for believing in the Bible instead of science, and Christianity is a bloody religion because of the crusades, it's not considered particularly offensive.

If I say Muslims consider the rest of us infidels and that their religion contains a lot of violent teachings, - no big deal.

If I say scientologists are wacked for believing in Xenu the galactic emperor and that they brainwash people and aren't even a "real" religion - yawn.

If I say Hindu's are misguided for that whole cast system and for considering cows sacred - no big deal.

But if I pull a "Mel" and say Jews are responsible for all of the wars - game over man! Media crucifiction, career suicide.

Why the difference.

What I was getting at is why is it acceptable to say negative things about people of other religions, but if you say something about Jewish people you are labeled anti-semitic?

I follow the South Park Philosophy which is to "Discriminate Equally".

Each of the groups you mentioned did have members with hurt feeling due to the joke/ insult/ attack. Yes, it's better to say nothing at all if you can't say anything nice.

Is the Jewish getting media attention because of the Holocaust... NO ... Jewish Gay men control Hollywood allowing them to make the most noise and whine and cry when the joke/ insult/ attackers poke fun of them. Yeah, the Holocaust is bad, but since WWII, there have been worse cases of Genocide ... it's simply that Gay Hollywood Mongrels don't care about this since it did not effect their history of life; simply ego centrism.

Because saying the Jews are responsible for all of the wars is paranoid, deluded and not true. Were they responsible for Vietnam? Korea? Iraq 1? Iraq 2? WW I? The American Revolution? The Rwandan Civil War? The Spanish-American War? War of the Roses? And did they start WW II? How about the Cuban Revolution? The Bolshevik revolution? the Reign of Terror? Napoleanic Wars? The Boer War?

Must I go on?

i would say muslims wouldn't be happy with that description but that's to be expected. Hindus love cows, leave them be. jewish believe they are "chosen" and special, but they're not. Scientologists are nuts. i agree with you

He was drunk when he said it and he apologized profusely in a public statement. But, that was also disrespectful and irresponsible. But he did make amends, at least! And not pull that, "Do you know who I am?" thing.
