No offense to anyone else, but don't listen to the advice you've been getting. DDR SDRAM is backwards compatible to run at lower speeds.
In the older days of regular SDRAM, such as with PC133, there were some issues about it working in older motherboards that had PC66 or PC100. It would work "sometimes". In newer PC's like the one you have, that shouldn't be an issue at all. The PC3200 DIMM will be easily underclocked to run at PC2700 speeds.
However, are you sure you're getting a good deal? I suggest you search on www.pricewatch.com or try www.crucial.com which has a good online configurator to help you find a compatible module. If you do decide to buy from eBay or a site on Pricewatch, look out for generic or house brands. Good ones to get include Micron, Kingston, Corsair, Crucial, Mushkin, Samsung, etc.

laptop motherboards tend to be more picky about ram than towers. You can usually go the the other way (faster motherboard slower ram). If you check the manufactures site you may find a wizard that will tell you if it will. I have had luck in returning ram in the past as long as I had a good sob story ready.

I wouldnt do it, I would go to ebay and get youre pc2700 there, you will save alot of money, and get what you need instead of spending more money and taking a risk of it not working.

you will want to make sure that the motherboard can take the PC3200. If not it will not work at all.

You probably wouldn't mess up your laptop it just wouldn't show anything on the screen or POST until the RAM was removed.
