The cycle begins when a strong thunderstorm develops a rotating mesocyclone a few miles up in the atmosphere, becoming a supercell. As rainfall in the storm increases, it drags with it an area of quickly descending air known as the rear flank downdraft (RFD). This downdraft accelerates as it approaches the ground, and drags the rotating mesocyclone towards the ground with it.
As the mesocyclone approaches the ground, a visible condensation funnel appears to descend from the base of the storm, often from a rotating wall cloud. As the funnel decends, the RFD also reaches the ground, creating a gust front that can cause damage a good distance from the tornado. Usually, the funnel cloud begins causing damage on the ground (becoming a tornado) within minutes of the RFD reaching the ground.

A tornado starts when in a region, due to varying weather conditions, hot air suddenly rise up towards the sky in a very fast speed, forming 'the eye'. Then the surround cool air will move downwards to replace the hot air that is displaced in a whirling movement. And thus we have our tornado!

They only start on perfectly clear and sunny days. So whenever you see the sun up in the sky with not a cloud in sight, run because a tornado might suddenly appear!!!

The basic & simple answer is that when a warm front collides with a cold front you can possibly have a tornado--you need to use your computer to research the details.

Usually very cloudy, and the sky starts to turn pale green, there may be a sudden drop in temperature, if you're outside and all the birds stopped chirping and there's no noise from insects, run!
