Absolutely! Also it's terrific for your body and flexibility. It's a tremendous workout that tones and strengthens many muscle groups.
This is what all those poor gals with eating disorders should be doing rather than wrecking their bodies with horrific "dieting" techniques.
You may gain some weight doing this, but only because you'll end up trading fatty tissue for muscle mass which is heavier. Good stuff!

absolutely. every popular 'pop diva' does it. it's great exercise. it's a beautiful and expressive art. I have been bellydancing for several years now...... I love it, and I don't feel slutty or stupid when I dance for my husband......... and I don't feel dirty when I dance in competition
