That is because most of the rich people became rich by living modestly (saving more than they spend.) HONEST. Look at Warren Buffett - if he wasn't so famous as an amazing investment guru, you would NEVER suspect him to be Uber-RICH. He still lives in his farmhouse he bought in like 1970 and still drives the same GM or Ford for the last 15 years, and goes out to Dairy Queen every Sunday to eat.

Why do you keep yourself anonymous? Until "the media" decide to make you "unanonymous" what are you? Everybody has 15 minutes of fame (Andy Warhol?). Anyway, when you say anonymous, don't you mean that the national media has not put out a story on the person? How many people know who Pol Pot was? Caspar Weinberger? Spiro Agnew? Names that at one time would have been instantly recognizable have now faded away.

I guess I need to know what you mean by rich? One answer mentioned Warren Buffett...he is rich X 100000000000 on steroids. His weath is measured in Billions, not millions. I suggest the super rich, such as he, are certainly not anonymous. If you mean my neighbor who is a millionaire, I think there are so many of them that anonymity comes automatically.
