Are you supposed to practice putting tampons in for the first time when you have your period? Or can you practice any time?

Oh my gosh, please PLEASE don't try to put one in anytime. Tampons are meant for use during a period....so only try to use them when your'e on your period. You'll know you're doing it right when you can't feel anything. Start with the smallest possible size BUT with an applicator..I recommend Playtex Beyond or Tampax Pearl..both are really good.

Just be careful, because you know that tampons can cause TSS if you leave them in for too long. TSS--Toxic Shock Syndrome--can kill you...but you don't have to worry about it if you use the smallest possible absorbency and if you change it every 4 to 8 hours. I used my first tampon like 1 month ago...and seriously, I didn't need to practice before.

If you REALLY need help use a mirror. I know it may sound nasty or whatever, but it is kind of helpful.

BUT PLEASE don't practice just any time, because if you get it in there, it'll be extremely hard and painful to remove. Make sure you try when you're on your period.

I am suspecting that you are on your period for the first time or you are trying tampons for the first time, because you have asked three questions concerning this issue. Well if you are having your first period, then no, you should wait til you are 16, 17, or 18 to use tampons. If you have had your period before, but are just now trying tampons, yes, you can try anytime. I wouldn't know personally, because mom won't let me use tampons just yet, but she, along with other people on here, say that no, you don't have to try inserting a tampon while JUST on your period, you can do it anytime. BUT, the tampon, will be very uncomfortable and be rather difficult to remove, because the tampon is designed to absorb moisture and if there is no moisture then the tampon will be uncomfortable no matter what. wait till u have a period. after the first time it's easy. and don't get freaked out by some of the things u gonna read here. it should never hurt. if it does it's not in right. just take it out and try again. unless ur scared of ur mom she is a great person to go to for this kinda thing. she's been there too ya know.

It's quite uncomfortable to put in a tampon if you do not have your period. Especially when you take it out because the tampon is designed to absorb moisture, and you need moisture in order for it to slide in... therefore, it will "get stuck" and be difficult to remove.

I would wait until you have started your period. It truly does not take that long to practice and get it right. You'll know you've done it right when you cannot feel it.
