It is important that bub has some cereals... you could mix other meals in with rice cereal... or mash some fruit into the rice cereal...
It is important not to feed babies wheat until the are about two years old... wheat is a harsh grain on such tender tummies..

Different things you could do. I gave my 10 month old daughter instant oatmeal (flavored) for breakfast. She really liked that. You can also mix some of the baby food fruit into the rice cereal, giving it more flavor. Another thing that Gerber makes is a cereal (looks like Rice Crispy's) in apple or mixed fruit flavors. It gets mushy in milk (or formula, if you use that) quickly, and easy for them to eat. It has a lot of flavor, and a texture that might be very nice for her.
It isn't really a big thing if she stops eating the rice cereal. Our daughter stopped eating it regularly around 10 months (she's 12 months now). We have given her things from little frozen pancakes (microwave for 15 seconds - they are a tasty treat!), cottage cheese with fruit (Gerber makes diced fruit in jars), french toast sticks (Eggo makes them for the toaster), and whatever else we could think of. Scrambled eggs, etc. She had 8 teeth by then, so chewing wasn't too much of an issue. We still kept things on the softer side, and cut things up for her. But she is not a picky eater - she eats just about anything given to her because she has been exposed to so many different foods. I think she likes the variety and new tastes, too.
The thing I go by is what my Dr. told me when I asked about it. "Have you tasted the stuff? Of course she likes other foods more! The taste alone is more exciting to her!"

No he's not ready!!!!!! Wait till at least 5 1/2 months if not 6... He is doing nothing unordinary for his age.... But regardless if size, his stomach is not yet ready for solids!!! And when you do start solids is should not go from 0 to 3 meals a day.... It should be started gradually with 1 teaspoon a day, then 2, and so on.... If you wait, you also don't have to do cereal at all... You can skip right to the good stuff that he will be interested in.. Just watch for allergic reactions carefully but not switching foods for 2 or 3 days... Also don't give too many bananas!!! They are very constipating... I started my first on cereal at 5 1/2 months... He didn't care for it.. Then I got carrots and he loved them!!!! He is now 3 1/2 and loves veggies and all kinds of food... He eats anything pretty much... He also has no food allergies... And is average height and weight... My second is 4 months old and much bigger than my first... He's fitting in 9 month old clothing as well... But I am still not starting solids till almost 6 months... He grabs my plate at dinner.. He watches vigilantly.. But his tummy is not developmentally ready yet...

My son is now 1 1/2 years old.
The same happened with me, he started the cereal bit at 4 months. He wasn't interested with it much after I introduced the gerber & beech nut foods.
What I did, and what I was "schooled" on, was to INSTEAD, of trying to pressure your child to eat the rice cereal conventionally from the box,
TRY the rice ceral from gerber. they had a varity of ready made rice cereals. Some mixed with fruit, some plain, some mixed with other rice cereals. This was much more of a better taste for my son, feeling like a big boy I would heat up his rice cereal, and he would eat it,
In a doctors point of view, I was told not to worry about him not eatting as much as I"M use to seeing him eat, if he doesn't eat too much in the morning, he'll eat more at dinner, and it's not neglect on the parents part, don't worry TOO much about his individual meals, worry more about his DAILY nutrition, as in, if he didn't eat too much here, feed him more there, and YES< in my personal situation, I find that my son being picky was pretty hard for me, because I would open three different dinner gerbers, before he settled with one he wanted to eat that night.
Believe this IS NOT CRAZY. it's NOT spoiling the kid. It's making sure he understands he has to EAT, but there's way US mothers can convience the meal times more to the childs taste.
I hope this helped.

Great some one i can relate too... My daughter is now a year old and was on rice cerial since 2 months old...she hadacid reflux... she didnt like the rice cerial anymore so i started giving her baby oatmeal at about 5 months of age. She still has a bottle of oatmeal every day now, it's easy to feed throguh a bottle, and also moves through the bowls easyer than rice cerial. Instant oatmeal with the sweeteners is good for them too, as long as it is cooked right and given after 9 months, or when you think they can handle eating that from a spoon(opt out rasains kind)
PS i find gerber Baby oatmeal with bannanas fit my little one the best. Pediatricitan gave me the go ahead to continue with the oatmeal for as long as i like. Good source of fiber and other vitamins.

She should be eating a variety of foods now...and yeah you can cut out the rice cereals. Try some cream of wheat, mix it with mashed bananas and a bit of formula if you want to give her cereal.

I gave my daughter the rice cereal until she was about 3 months old, and then I started feeding her table food, or what we ate, within reason. She is 35 now and very healthy.

You can stop giving it to her. I mix the oatmeal in with my sons Gerber dinners or at times I will leave it out. Just watch your child's bowels. I have been starting to get away from baby food by cutting up small meat, cheese, fruit, veggies. He loves them that way, not mushy and bland tasting.

That is normal. Don't worry. Soon she will be able to try well cooked rice. Most babies don't like cereal after they have tried other things. It is OK>
