I think he is in pretty bad shape. He didn't just hand the controls to his brother during surgery, he made long range organizational preparations.
I don't think C. Rice would be publicly going to the media and assuring Cuban people via the press that the United States respects the sovereignity of Cuba if our government didn't think some fairly large change was in the works.

Castro has been laying dormant for too long. If he does not return to power I think Cuba will remain the same.

He will regain power in a few weeks, when he dies the dissent will begin and the exiled cubans will return with guns.

He may be dead, no one really knows. When he does go, it should be interesting to see what Cubans will do after decades of oppression.

no he is to old. it will stay as is for a while but not to long for his brother is old also. People can only live for so long
