Well Rob...
I'm not sure whom you are referring to, but if your previous political leaning is intact, I'd say it's conservatives / Republicans you refer to as mean.
The only thing ever proven "mean" about Republicans (as a group) is that they represent the MEAN of American thinking better than the current Democratic spokespersons (Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Ted Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, etc.).
As I've said here many times, most of the mean-spirited name calling seems to originate from the disgruntled left. The disrespect, even hatred for George Bush is visceral, exaggerated and not a very productive emotion to show when you're trying to convince moderate red-staters that Democrats think just like they do.
If you want to know which is the "party of mean" just ask Joe Leiberman how proud he is to be a Democrat right now.

The party of mean is always wasting their time. Now if we could all agree on which party that is, we'd all be better off.

Rob,
The Party of Mean is always wasting their time trying to defend that which is indefensible and to otherwise case dispersions on anyone who is seeking honest discussion on issues they just aren't up to addressing with anything other than knee-jerk responses fed to them by Rush and Bill.
It's best to not take their ilk seriously and to ignore their venom-spew. (Can that qualify as a noun?)

Please clarify. Are you refering to one of the parties as mean, or are you refering to the mean element in either party.
I frequently check out KooKooBananas & John Skerry just to see how rediculous they can be, but I never take them seriously.
