laundry soap works great and if you use the inexpensive type won't be as costly, till ya can get dishsoap.(a little bit of liquid laundry soap goes a very long way and won't leave residue if rinsed in hot water)

If you don't have any hand soap, the next best thing would be to just rinse them all as best as you can, then set them aside till tomorrow when you can go get more soap. Maybe even let them soak in hot water and a little vinegar for now. Good luck!

I've had this happen over the years. I use laundry detergent in a pinch. It cleans the dishes just as good. Just be sure to rinse very well to get rid of all the residue. You won't need too much detergent either. A little goes a long, long way.

I prefer the "leave the dishes until tomorrow" answers :)

Another option is to leave them outside and let the rain wash them off, if you get rain where you are.

Sometimes, pets like to lick dishes clean for you. Then just rinse and re-use.

But, seriously, just about any other mild cleaner you have handy will work fine. I would pick shampoo first before laundry detergent, but that's just me :)
