I mean, it's kind of pointless. He's can't be re-elected, and he obviously doesn't care what others think (a good quality, in my opinion, but can also be bad). So, why does it matter if people approve of what he does? He's still going to do what he does regardless of what a stupid poll says. It's really a waste of news space and time.

To those of you who wrote "So we can impeach him' - that's not where I was going with this and it's never going to happen, so don't waste your time whining about how he needs to be impeached. Clinton was closer to being impeached (or was he impeached? I can't remember those good old days too well) than Bush ever will be.

Ever notice that since 9-11 we have not had any major terrorist attacks in the USA but they are happening all over the rest of the world. I would say Bush is doing a pretty good job for us.
Come on AMERICAN people. You may think it is cool to bash Bush but you are only hurting the esteem of your great country. What kind of signal does it send to other countries if people in the USA are “bad mouthing” their president.
You have the right to freedom of speech and all that but a little common sense is needed when you are standing if front of whole world.
Don’t make this great country a laughing stock to other countries. Oh, just in case you did not know, when you post things on Q&A, there are people from all over the world that read it.
President George W. Bush is many times speaking directly to groups of people with words from his heart. No script, just answering random questions. Let’s pretend you were in just one of those press meetings and you had to answer questions, rapid fire, about your area of interest. How well would you do? Think maybe you might make one or two mistakes of grammar or pronunciation? Do you think people should call you stupid or uneducated because of a slip of the tongue?
“Before I judge a man, let me first walk a mile in his moccasins."
Don’t criticize another person’s work until you’ve tried to do it yourself; don’t judge another person’s life until you’ve been forced to live it
As a challenge to our mindset and a way to stretch our understanding, we can put ourselves in the shoes of George W. Bush

Bashing the President is part of the Media Bias that exists in the News & Media business. No one fabricates the news better than the New York Times.
News should be reported. Not created and then distributed as a propaganda tool
By continuously making the President out to be the worst president in history, it opens the crack in the door that democrats need to win seats and take a majority of senate and or house of representatives seats in the November elections. Right now, the house and senate are Republican controlled meaning that both sides of the legislature are a republican majority.
So its a long drawn out smear campaign to try to get the electorate to vote for democrats come November 5th.
Hope that explains the story behind the story.

It's no longer trendy correct now to suggest that any person in America might potentially be hated greater than the present President. The Media studies what they consider such a lot humans wish to listen to. If they tacked on "Oh, and all of us hate the Congress, too" it turns the tale into some thing anti-executive after we all love to believe that we are fairly patriotic, it is simply that man Dubbya mucking the nation up. I uncover it a laugh that your query does not explicitly state that you simply aid Bush, but a few of your replies are as abrasive as when you'd published "OMG BUSH IS TEH BEST!!!" My favorite is the only telling you to close up, when you consider that that is certainly a mature option to manage humans who gift you with expertise that does not smartly have compatibility together with your global-view - simply scream at them till they depart. Nice. All Media is biased a technique or an additional. Some are extra visible than others, however on the finish of the day it is well to take into account that every one Media shops have an time table, and on the finish of the day it is to earn money and air something sells. (Trying to stir public sentiment and enact coverage difference can repeatedly be secondary ambitions.)

I think the reason behind the media's constant watch on Bush's approval rating is simply that it has at times been one of the lowest in history.
BTW- a little rebuttal to Mr. Bingo's response: Criticizing our president does not "harm" our nation. Living in a democracy entails thinking critically about the actions and decisions being made by our political leaders. In my opinion not only do I have the right to criticize the Bush administration's actions, but the duty to do so. What honestly is the point of living in a democracy if you are not going to actively participate?

Because the media helped create the rating and have to do this to keep it down.
Just like the recent Hilary joke talking to the military leader, That was all staged by the press, He was already speaking to Congress that morning and had no reason to speak again on TV. But the press pressed him into it to make Hilary look important and show her new tough stand.
the media is past reporting the news and are starting to create the news in the way they want the world to look.

In politics his approval rating affects his ability to get things through congress because even though he is not up for re-election members of congress are. If congressmen vote with an unpopular president then it will affect their re-election campaign, therefore approval ratings are very important.

For the same reason that the media is making such a big deal about an inebriated person saying stupid things. Lots of people want to hear about it so that makes it "news".
Mel Gibson if you were wondering. Do you care?

Excellent question. But I bet you get blasted by a bunch of libs who don't get it. Just proof they are gullible enough to have fallen for the Dem Parties strategy of Bush bashing.
This is really intended to draw attention away from the fact that they are not (and have not for quite some time) offering anything positive of their own. And when it comes to political strategy, W continues to beat them every time a they challenge him. Makes them mad. So they attack him.

Majority of the news is liberal, so they like pointing this out. Bush has done some good things too, but the media loves to point out the negative. It sells better.

Because it's a slow news day.
How many times have you turned on the TV to watch the news and end up getting stuff that's more entertainment related?
