Milk is more difficult on an infant's stomach than formula - even milk based formula. The enzymes are more difficult to break down and digest, causing gas. It is rather normal until they are used to it.

Just watch him. If he continues to be gassy, have stomach aches and/or loose stools, he could be lactose intolerant. Cut back on the milk, and maybe mix the two together (4 oz formula, 4 oz milk). He may not be ready yet for milk. Maybe talk to his Dr. and see what he/she says.

Humans often have gassy reactions to cow milk, it's one of the side effects of Lactose Intolerance. You might want to try soy milk, it's very similar to cow milk but has none of the fats & other bad stuff that makes milk less than the holy beverage the cow industry would like you to think it is.

Try a low Iron formula. Powder form works and is better than milk. still keep it warm.
Try walmart , kroger brand they have the same ingredients as the rest but about $3. dollars cheaper.
Your baby is not lactose intolerant If you breast fed her/him

he may be intollerant of the proteins or the lactose. have the doctor test him before it makes for more sleepless nights and consider alternatives as per the pediatricians advice...ie fortified rice or soy milks. remember that these do not replace some of the same nutritional needs and you might need a vitamin supplement if he isn't already on one. calcium you know. many doctors encourage meds, but that's awful young to start popping pills if he doesn't absolutely have to. good luck mom!

I would lay off the milk for a few days & see if it improves. If it does, then he might be lactose intolerant.

The transition to cow milk may be tough. Try using a lowfat or even nonfat milk. I know its cheaper, but you may want to continue with formula until baby is a little older. Instead of full bottles... try giving baby 4oz. and alternating between milk and juice... The stool will be harder, of course if you are not giving formula... And stinky...

Milk might be too strong for him. Keep him on formula for a little while longer, then start to introduce milk just a little at a time to help his system get used to it.
