Every era has been a "propaganda era." What is education, if not propaganda. History books are written by the winners of wars, not by objective observers. How do you feel about Hitler? How do Japanese people feel about President Truman who authorized the use of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and NagasakI?

Mathematics -- the "most objective" of the "sciences" -- is heavily propagandistic toward capitalism. "If you borrow $100 at 10 percent simple interest for one year, how much interest will you pay?" Seems non-propagandistic, but it is reaffirming capitalistic attitudes that it is all right to lend money and charge interest to the borrower. Consequently, we don't see this "math problem" as an "indocrination to believing in capitalism."

In the 1950's experiments were performed using "subliminal advertising;" today national fear (another 9/11) is used to convice us that tapping our phones, monitoring our Internet connections, using concealed video cameras, etc. is "good" for national security.

The key to dealing with propaganda is to know it when you see it....like this propagandistic message to try to get you to think independently.

The propaganda era has been around long before you were born. It doesn't require an internet, although now any lunatic can spread their 'propaganda' with ease. Before it was just governments.
