There is a process called svchost.exe that takes up 97-99% of my CPU usage each time i start my notebook or connect to the internet. This happens for 5-10 minutes each time. The pc just hangs, and after 5-10 minutes, its back to normal. Anyone knows what is wrong?

It's not uncommon to have multiple copies of SVCHOST.EXE to be running on your machine.

Periodically, I have a similar problem happen. I use the free program Process Explorer to get some more info. I'll stop the process and things will go back to normal except I find I have no audio and need to restarts that process.

svchost.exe is a windows operating system file that handles commands/operations from DLL files for your programs. Perhaps you uninstalled a program but it didn't clear the DLL file that goes with it.

Download and run a program called CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/ and run its registry cleaner to clear up any messed up links.
