they won't automatically test for drugs, but it would benefit you and the baby if you were honest with your doc and told him - that way he knows if there are any health issues that he needs to be on the lookout for with you or your child.

You need to stop smoking dope now. The OB doctor does not automatically test for drugs during a first prenatal visit. Be careful not to take any medications that are not prescribed...and tell the doctor that you did smoke dope before you found out you were pregnant. You won't get into trouble if you are truthful now - the marijuana you smoked should be long gone by the time you deliver. It is only if drugs are found in the mother at the time of delivery that there is any question of criminal charges or placing the baby in foster care....but that is about 35 weeks away, so you have the chance to get totally "clean" now.
The "strength" of marijuana can vary from one region to the next, so there is no absolute number of joints, or amount of pot smoked that we know might harm your fetus; still, it is important for you to start taking prenatal vitamins as soon as possible, eat lots of green leafy vegetables (for the folic acid in them), and be sure that you are eating a balanced diet.
Good luck with your pregnancy!

Chemicals from joints definitely will hurt the child's brain development and also can induce addition to the unborn!! Take multivitamins and get on a good diet so that your child can make up for lost time. If you keep smoking, you most likely will have a premature kid on your hands!! Your milk will be essential for the kid's health so think twice when you put anything in your mouth or in your blood!! Give the newborn a fair chance at the starting gate!! God bless!!

Uhhhh, you need to let the weed go. Your baby gets everything you get. You definitely need to be honest with your doctor. It is important for your medical care providers to know exactly what's going on in case special considerations will need to be taken as you progress through your pregancy. Whether you smoke 1/2 a joint or 5 joints a day, your doctor needs to know.

Dear its me
If you smoked marijuana and only marijuana, your child will have no problems.
However, addicitions generally go along arm to arm with other drug uses.
Tell me, are you sure that it was only marijuana?
The problem is not that, but how impure it was. or if you used other substances during that time, such as alcohol, metamphetamines etc etc.( you know what I mean)
Be sincere with yourself and with your obstetrician, and protect your child, by recalling all the drugs (prescription and non prescription, legal or illegal), that you may have used during that critical period.+
Dont be afraid to be sincere, because no one will crticize or call the cops because you smoked some joints weeks ago,,,,the issue here is to be sincere, and cooperate with your doctor under the confidentiality that You are entitled by law.
Marijuana alone, does not cause chilbirth defects, however most of the other drugs, do.
Yoirs sincerely

No, they won't test for drugs. There's probably a small chance of something going wrong, but since you stopped and nothing vital was being formed, your baby should be fine.

The doctor is unlikely to test you for illegal drug use. Try not to beat yourself up about this and don't do it anymore.
If you're concerned, though, bring up your previous drug use with your doctor.
