I'm a liberal Christian, in the sense that I do not adhere to any particular denomination, because I've seen the brain washing effects of organized religion first hand. Therefore, I do not practice what I believe just because the doctrine of the church I go to states it.

Now, with that being said, I admit that I once had some prejudice feelings towards homosexuals in the past. I won't lie to you or myself. The issue I'm most focused on is gay marriage. Homosexuals can have a marriage ceremony anytime they would like, they would just not be accepted as legally married. Here are my thoughts on that. I've recently realized that it's senseless and ignorant for me to automatically choose to deny friendship to a person, simply because they are gay. After all, it doesn't affect me in any way. So, I'm tired of Christianity=unacceptance. I have friends that are gay, and it hasn't bothered me. But about gay marriage, I thought I might be able to shed some light as to why society doesn't...

vote it to be legal. It's not because society is trying to hate gays. It's mostly because getting married entails some financial rewards and benefits by the government. If people were to accept this law, they might feel as though they are rewarding people for doing something they don't believe is right. You wouldn't give someone money as a reward for doing something you didn't feel was right, would you? So it's not about preventing them from having rights. It's about giving them rewards. I definitely agree on this issue. But I also definitely do not condone the fact that not being able to be legally married prevents gays from seeing their significant others in the hospital when they are ill or dying. Who are we to judge who can love who? My final thoughts: It's not right to decide what someone can and cannot do, when it does not affect other people in a concrete, negative way. But we should be able to decide what we reward other people for with our taxes.

But I do hope that one day, everyone in the world will see homosexuals as equal human beings.

Ok....what about the people who cheat on their spouse? What about the guy who molests his kids? What about the person who steals things from work? We pay for their rights and benefits daily and they are sinners....harming other people, in fact. Gay people are hurting no one, and they deserve to have the same rights as everyone else. Just because we don't "know" or "see" the sins and wrongdoings of some people, they are there, and I would rather pay for a gay person to have the same benefits as me, than someone who cheats on his/her family, or molests kids. I too am a liberal Christian, and some people choose to have no religion involved in their wedding ceremony......others CHOOSE to. All marriages should be a civil union across the board, and individuals should be allowed to choose what kind of marriage ceremony they want.

I agree. I once had my children in daycare . The facility was owned and operated by a lesbian . A lot of people couldn't believe I would put my kids in her care. My reply was she is a homosexual ,not a pervert or child molester.

Now about Gay Marriage ,If two people love each other or want to marry for any reason what is it to anyone but themselves . None of my business. I feel they should have the same rights as everyone else.

I do think society as a whole is becomming more tolerant but, there is a way to go yet.

Society lacks ardour and society lacks standpoint. Many humans toil away at shitty jobs all day, now not preventing for a moment to do not forget that whatever larger could also be in the market.

We give crackheads welfare. We pay our shameless, deadass politicians. There are plenty more examples of where my tax money goes that I wish it wouldn't.

YOU are not rewarding anything. You are paying your dues to live in this country. You don't get to decide where your tax money goes. As for financial rewards for married people, they are pretty insignificant if those people are gainfully employed, too. They also pay taxes.

Why do people care what two adults want to do? It does not effect them in any way. What happened to freedom? Let them do what they want. There are a lot more things for us to worry about. No, I'm not gay.

Homosexuality goes a long way from being justification for equal rights.

You don't have to like or agree with others but you really should accept and allow people to be what they want to be and do what they want to do. It's reaally not your issue or problem.
