As a manager at a retail store, I would be more impressed with a nice pair of slacks. Dickies is a great and sturdy brand, I used to work at Toys R Us, and we wore khakis and red shirt. I only wore Dickie pants, they last a long time.

there are only some jobs where it would be appropriate- better to be too dressed- as opposed to too casual
