Do a virus scan first. Another option is to go to www.trendmicro.com and click on free services. There is a feature called "house call" which is free and is a very comprehensive virus and spyware scan. If you have dial up, it will take about a half hour for them to connect with your system and another two hours for the scan. But if you have DSL or cable, the whole thing will take about a half hour or so.

If you still get the pop-ups, you will have to invest in a good spyware program. I recommend Webroot Spyware Sweeper. Sometimes getting rid of pop-ups is not a simple thing. You could have a trojan or a browser hijacker. A good spyware software will prevent this from happening.

There are many different types script coding to produce pop ups, and some are caused by javascript which browsers cannot disable at all with their pop up tool. To turn off javascript pop ups of some types you MUST turn off javascript entirely -- particularly true if you want to visit untrusted sites especially those that lure people in with free stuff.

With regard to porn sites, they generate a lot of money, and most sites that offer free adult material will absolutely infect your machine with scripts that will help their sites generate as much cash as possible for click throughs. These scripts are not entirely the domain of porn sites however. People that seek to turn user computers into bots they can use in their botnet, can set up sites that seem innocent enough. If you click NO to not download some 'free' thing (maybe some smilies you can use in email), it may actually still download to your computer, but with special additional stuff you do not want. NOT all sites can be trusted that way.

How secure is your computer? Sure you may have antivirus and a few other tools. But find out more:
Tests you can run to see how secure your system is

And if you flunk any of those tests, then you should go here and carefully go through the list of potential holes your system may have.

At minimum, you need one or more firewalls, at least one good Antivirus, and several antispyware programs. I use Zone Alarm Pro, Windows Firewall, Norton Antivirus, Spybot Search & Destroy with teatimer, WinPatrol Plus, and I occasionally use a few other antispyware tools every few months.

Scan your drive for spyware or adware. Recommended ones are:
1. Ad-Aware
2. Spybot
3. SpywareBlaster
4. SuperAntispyware
5. MS Windows Defender
6. Bazooka
7. Google Toolbar

Use the Opera and/or Flock browsers instead of IE.

You've been given a virus from one of those sites. Disconnect your modem or high-speed line from your computer. Empty your temp files, delete all your cookies, delete your history and do a virus scan and ad-aware scan. If that doesn't help, reconnect your Internet line and try going to Panda-ware and do a free virus and spy-ware check from their site. If that don't work, put only your most needed text files, the ones you did not download from the web, on a disc and have your hard drive wiped and then re-install all your software.
This is good lesson to everybody, those sites will virus you every time. So will a lot of other "free" download sites. Especially music, lyrics, toolbar and desktop theme sites.

Then your popup blocker sucks, you can use several pop up blockers at the same time, I do and one or the other always catches it. Also some trojans work from the inside letting pop ups in. YOU might be INFECTED!

Check yer firewall.
Also, insure your 'high' pop-up blocker is 'engaged'.

You need to stop going on to Pornsites that bombard with ads. Try a spyware remover and a porn eraser. Xcleaner was good a while back, check that one out.

Hi, i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar, which is most powerful in blocking popups.

besides, firefox can disable any virus and spyware adware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:
