Do the writers just put some letters together for this stuff? Opie? Pacey? Archie? Whitey (leave it to beaver)? Enough to drive ya nuts.

Some of those names are actual names for people that might work on that show. Such as Bill Deutrive, he's a producer on the show (I think that's how it's spelled) from King of the Hill and Joe Devolla is a producer from Seinfeld, but they used the name Crazy Joe Devolla. Some of these names might sound crazy, but a lot of people name their kids after them.

Well, Opie & Pacey are a mystery to me. But Archie was a name that people had many years ago. Like how many young people do you hear with the names Ethel, Hagatha, Percy, Beula, etc? I guess they were names from the time period that the show is. Newer shows have crazy names too like Moesha, Sabrina, Zoey, Raven, etc. You won't find any shows from the early days with those names!

Hi! For one thing, Opie was just a nickname. His real name was Oedipus. I don't know about Pacey, but Archie was a nickname for Archibald. Whitey was called that because of his hair. I do agree with you, but they are just nicknames. Besides, it would make for a boring show if they used Dick and Jane right?

I'm not sure..to make it interesting I think. If the character has an original name then the character must be interesting.
My name is weird too. I've heard of Autumn and Summer. But I don't think I've ever come across another Winter. Have you?

They are real names, but they use the names most of us never heard of before to make it better. You wouldn't call... someone 600 years ago Tom. Thats just stupid.
