i'm actually leaving to hawaii on sunday and lucky me, i got my period. haha...it shouldn't prevent you of having any fun. you can try tampons, if you wanna get in the water. or you can find alternative things to do. i'm usually for pads, but i'm open to try tampons also. i might actually try that when i'm in hawaii. try both and see which one you like.

Neither, I wear this product called instead. You can wear it for 12 hours, it is fabulous because there are some times during working were I am gone for a couple hours. Can't worry about pads or tampons. Haven't worn those in like 11 years.... couldn't imagine going back.
As for preventing fun(if we are talking sex), nah just in case you think you are going to make a mess...grab a towel. and if you do, great time to take a shower with your partner. Nothing like clean fun.... oh yes, make sure you ask if it bothers your partner or not.
That should never prevent you from having any type of fun.

I used pads until I was in my 20's.
Use pads at night, if you leave a tampon in too long, you can get very very sick... read the instructions that are inside the box.
Use tampons during your trip but also use a light days pad to prevent accidents...

I use both. If I don't, it's messy! I try not to let my period interfere with my fun. I keep a little pouch of supplies where I can get to them, and try to make sure if am going to be in the car or on the plane for awhile, to visit the bathroom even if I don't think I need a change. I take ibuprofen a couple of times a day before I start, and that keeps cramps to a minimum. I even went to the beach when i had my period. But I try, if at all possible (and sometimes it can't be avoided) to plan trips around my period.

I wear cloth pads. I wear a chinese prefold at night. It holds a TON, is sooo comfortable and is very long to prevent leaks (never had a leak even with heavy flow after having a baby).
Note: I fold the prefold in 3 length wise so it looks like a super long pad. Sounds weird but works wonders.
It can make a trip not so fun, but tampons are the way to go in that case.

OK the same thing happened to me we had a trip planned too. Here is what you do... at night where two pads and during the day wear tampons .... bring a purse and fill it will tampons and pile makeup on top of it so if you drop it you wont get embarrassed .
And you will still have fun
I had fun on my trip I forgot i was even on my period.
P.S. pack a bottle of Midol!

Tampons always. I am not into wearing those huge diaper like pads. With tampons you seem to forget about your period and have more fun because if they are inserted the correct way you cant feel them. Pads are just too uncomfortable. I never let my period stop me from doing anything.

I wear pads at night to give it a break, also tampons and pantyliners on the flight, but otherwise tampons. I wear pantliners all the time, keeps your undies in better condition.
It should not prevent you from having fun -without sex. Swimming, diving etc is ok with the tampon.
Take some tylenol for cramps.

Pads at night, i wouldn't recommend sleeping while using a tampon at night because there can be a risk of toxic shock syndrome. Also being on your period on a trip shouldn't ruin your fun.
