What does it tell you if you always are hateful of people before you meet them and then later you become friends overcomming whatever prejudices you may have. Say you think a person is a slut but then u actually decide to talk to them and you realize that they are not.

many people make judgements, and then realize that person really is nice. its better not to be to trusting, as it takes time to know someone and what their like.i wouldnt hate them right off the bat, but i would watch them and see if there ok.

It tells you that you have learned to be hateful of people you haven't met from someone or something in your life. Its in your power to decide that you aren't going to hate anyone you don't even know. When you start thinking about hating someone you don't know just stop and remind yourself you can't hate someone you don't know! You've said you have prejudices - maybe you need to hang out with people who don't have prejudices because such people do exist. Imagine how you would feel to know that someone hates you but has never met you.

I have known people who think I'm one thing because of how I look, then they'll imagine something that I think or do because they assume that's what someone who looks like me would think or do, and THEN they will criticize me to my face over something that I don't think or do!! Its nutty!!

What your situation says is that life and people are showing you that your prejudices are misguided and incorrect. Learn from this lesson you appear to keep running into. Overcoming those prejudices is a good step on your part, but it would be really nice if you could work on not having them at all.

It means that your normal. we all make judgements about people. whether we mean to or not, its just natural. and initial impressions are bound to change, because how can you possibly know someone based soley on how you felt about them by seeing them. i mean, you cant base a person by the initial judgements about them. the fact that you overcome that first impression proves that you arnt prejudice, and arent insecure. your pushing past whatever you may feel and getting to know the real person.

That is not being insecure. That is being judgemental. People tend to judge. There is nothing wrong with that. What matters is what happen afterwards.
