Is it okay for blacks to use a racist word against white people in television and not the other way round?

Question

Think about the Jeffersons or Sanford and Son, and even some recent hows that use words that are hateful towards whites. Is there a double standard?
Do non-whites of any color have a free pass to insult the white group?

im black and i think its just as wrong when we say racists words as when whites say racists words... we cant expect one side to do it and not the other but thats just me

I think the media pushes that way too much.They have the RIGHT to vote for who they want. sadly it doesn't matter either way. its just like two mapquest directions to the same place. these people are selected to be elected. obama was a great pick. got a LOT done. What is the problem with this race bating??? I could say (my opinion) most people are NOT racist. just another "football issue" instead of focusing on REAL issues. People think America is a democracy, it is not! it was SUPPOSED to be a Republic. Checks and balances. Barrack Obama is considered to be the president who has written more "Executive Orders that any other president. An executive order is an order or command issued by the head of the executive twig at some level of government. yes it is true all presidents have used them, but they are NOT being used what they were meant for. Executive orders are never to bypass congress in law making.

I think you're right. I think there is a double standard. Because we used to like these shows and thought it was funny when Fred Sanford would say something about white people but we are shocked when a white person say something aobut blacks.

Because blacks were discrimated against for so many years, many of them think they are entitled to use racist remarks twoards whites.

And even some white people will 'bend over backwards' to be sure they are treated fairly. (unfairly in my opinion as they seem to have more rights now)

What I think is that black history is not the same as white history, so now making fun of whites or saying something racist on t.v. against whites is kinda like a pay back thing.Not a bad exchange for whites huh?
Nobody has the right to insult anybody especially if its got something to do with color.Thats racist no matter who does it ,thats wrong.
It was just the time early 80"s something new .Now its out of style, I grew up in San Francisco thats a prety liberal place we grow up with all kinds of people, so we don"t really trip on to much stuff like that.. i"m sure that its diferent in other citys and towns.

There are no racist terms against white people that carry any kind of stigma. So it's impossible for a black person to do what you just said.

I can't actually think of the last time a black person on TV said something truly racist against white people. Sure they take pokes at us but nothing bad. So no, I don't think there is particularly a double-standard here.

No way racist comments toward anyone is wrong. There should be no repayment against whites for bad judgement or hateful comments of the past. Oh and I haven't noticed anything, but I may be oblivious, i hope that racism is still not being used as humor in the media.

There really isn't a white version of the "N" word. Mainly because whites don't take offense so radically as blacks do. The same applies to heritage. Black heritage is great and fascinating, you can be proud to be black and feel good about it, but if a white dude shows pride in being white, all hell breaks loose - he's labeled as a racist.

I have been thinbkibg the same thing last night I was watching sanford and son and he was yelling at two white guys painting then he turned around and said jessus trying to get white people to work..that is it there is more racism aroud the other way and I find it interesting that white people insult white people black people insult whie people but if white people insult black people they are called a racist..itis bull crap

Yes there is a double standard but the slangs used against whites are so bad that they are laughable. The words used such as the N word is much more effective and that is why they get more upset about it.

It's not okay for any race to use a derogatory name towards anyone. Some say it's Black people way of getting back for all of the years that racist names and terms were used towards Black people.

You ever see that movie called The Soul Man.. It's about a white boy that acts black to get to this College. I feel you that some blacks do it like the Wayans Brothers but whites have done it every since TV was showing. If you dont like the show, you do not have to watch it. Every black show now includes whites as supporting actors to satisfy fools like you.
