Does it take years of practise? I'm considering trying to make something.

it is kind of hard when you're starting out and don't have any instuction. but if you look in the pattern section at wal mart, you can find easy patterns to start out with. try a simple pair of pajama pants for your first project. the link below will take you to simplicity's sewing basics. i also listed a couple of other sites that might help.

If you start out with simple patterns and use a sewing machine, it's pretty simple, although some people have trouble reading patterns. It's more difficult to swe stuff like leather, multiple layes of denim, and very complicated clothes.

I watched my ex mother inlaw struggle when she first started out sewing she started off with very basic patterns and went from there she is fantastic at sewing now, as long as you have a basic knowledge of patterns in how to pin and cut out, and know how to use a sewing machine with confidence you should be fine! no way, i made a pair of boxers. the hardest part i think is just winding the bobbin. i still dont really know how to do that lol, but if you have the design or something that shows you how to cut the material and how to piece it together, its not hard at all. good luck.

no it is quite easy , i worked in a sewing factory for years, and i hated sewing in school . just use your imagination and make your own clothes . you'll prob enjoy it.
