There is actually a lint fairy, not as famous as the tooth fairy, but surely important in that without him how would we protect our belly buttons from the cold? Putting this under you pillow only sends it back to the lint fairy to redistribute via the tooth fairy, so to do this is pointless, unless you want new lint, and if the demand is down you might just get the same lint back. I can't believe you didn't know this, I thought everyone did!

belly button lint isn't truly lint. It is in fact the fecal matter of a rare but deadly skin parasite. While the disease's associated with it, don't often present themselves clinically there are visual indicators of potential problems. If the "lint" is blue then the patient is usually suffering from oxygen deprivation caused by the parasites forming a thin film over the entire body and preventing carbon dioxide from expiring through the pores. If it is red, this indicates fatty tumors under the skin caused by the eggs laid by the parasite. If it is green, this is a sign of poisoning in the blood that can lead to gangrene, hence the name. As you may or may not know, white is a combination of all colors, so if it is white you are pretty much screwed. As to what to do with it. The lint should be collected until you have enough to fill a 33 gallon trash bag. Then go on E-Bay and list it. Purveyors of fine paper and stationary as well as cartographers will pay top dollar for it as it makes the most wonderful paper imaginable. Almost indestructible and softer then vellum.

My mommy told me belly button lint was very valuable and very rare because only special people produce it. Most are not. So as a child I never bathed and put the lint under my pillow for the Belly Button Lint Fairy (cousin to the Tooth Fairy). I can say now that I am a very rich lady. So definitely put it under your pillow!

Belly button lint is left from the gnarly gnomes who dance on your tummy in the moonlight at midnight. Leaving it under your pillow, in three piles, ensures you a lovely golden bar of irish spring, and some wierd dreams

It comes from clothing. But I wouldn't put it under my pillow, because I don't believe in the " belly button lint fairy".

What a delightfully funny question. I loved reading the funny responses that were not offensive. 10 pounds of belly button lint for the people who were mean with their sense of humor and 50 pounds to the ones who tried to seriously explain!

Are you a boy?
I've never heard of a girl who gets belly button lint.

My brother blames it on the clothes he wears because the lint is the same color.. I honestly don't know. Thank God I don't get any. It's kinda disgusting.

I don't think the pillow thing will work any... Good luck, though
