personally, i am a girl and i have a girlfriend and i think that people on both sides of the issue have a point. i agree that gays cant naturally have childeren and so on and so forth....
but i think marriage is about love, but reproducing. there are married straight people out there who choose not to have children. so why cant gays get married?
im not all too concerned about the whole marriage thing though, cuz im not old enough to get legally married haha. and if i do want to get married, then i'll just give her a ring and tada! not legally, but we are still married in our hearts to there! you try and stop me! haha
but seriously, when i do want to get legally married and i cant, then i will go to canada. thats what i feel, anyway.

More importantly, Daniel, can you explain why a marriage between to people of the same sex is wrong? Can it be explained how it will harm anyone else? No. Nothing but fundementalist rhetoric without any basis of fact or reality can be used to explain how it is wrong and how it will harm others.
Why is it right? Because two people who love each other and are committed to each other is the same regardless of what sex they are. Just because they are of the same sex does not discount the feelings they have or make them less committed to each other then hetrosexuals.
Unlike what some have said here, a very small percentage of the population is gay, not enough to even put a dent in the number of babies being born to hetrosexual couples and singles. That is a non-argument with no logic or basis.
Saying it is sick is a personal bias and once again has no logic or fact to back it up.
Like glassroseheart said, marriage is a legal binding of two people. Even though you are married in a religion, the priest is acting as a representative of the State when he marries you and you still have to have a State issued marriage license, not a religion issued license. A legally binding marriage has nothing to do with religion, the arguments against same-sex marriages are all religion-based.

All couples deserve to have the same rights because they are living and sharing a life together and choose to do so. Gay Marriage is only an attempt to help to level the playing field for those involved in the relationship. If two men or two women find that they choose to build a life together, they should not have anybody intruding into their business (literally) when one of the partners becomes ill or dies. Hospitals, churches and the like should respect the relationship as it is presented to them. The fight in the courts are mostly to help same sex couples get the legal rights that any heterosexual couple (whether or not they are legally married) have. I feel that this is not too much to ask. No one wants the right to marry their animals. That thought is just plain silly. Just allow gay couples to have the same rights as heterosexual couples.

Well let's take a look at some of the (dumbest) answers to the age old question, should gays be allowed to get married?
1. No, gays shouldn't be allowed to get married, because it is against God's will.
My response: Have any of you ever talked to God( and lately), and do you know him personally and how he feels about gays today?
2. Gays shouldn't be allowed to get married because they can't reproduce.
My response: Infertile couples and old people can't reproduce either. And what about single women who can't find a baby daddy? Should they be denied the right to marry too?
3. Gays shouldn't be allowed to marry because it would degrade and lessen heterosexual marriage.
My response: yeah right, like Britney Spears heterosexual 55 hour marriage did a whole lot for the straight community.
Reasons why gays should get married:
1. Who marries who is no one's business, as long as they are two consenting adults.
2. Gays are U.S. citizens just like everyone else, and pay more taxes since a lot of them are D.I.N.K.s, Double Income No Kids
3. Gays marrying will add more tax dollars.
4. Being homophobic is so "dark ages" and played out: Get over yourself!

I know this isn't really answering your question...but I had to make a comment since I have thought about this lately. I do think it is sinful to give into the "gay" life but I have never been against others doing what they want to do...I mean we only live once. However when I see gays walking around with children of their own...I get sickened....a child should not have to grow up in an environment like that...I mean what do they say..."Honey one day you will grow up and meet the man or woman of your dreams?" And what happens on parents day...when all your buddies or girl friends witness you have two mothers, etc. I just think that part of it is VERY WRONG. A person can screw with their own life but don't screw with others! That is my feelings on Gay rights and what is so-called deserved.

This is such a stupid question.
How does it affect you? What do you care about others' happiness anyway?
The bible says gay marrige is forbidden? The bible says a lot things that aren't taken literally. Should we start investing all our tax dollars into underground bunkers in preparation for the apocalypse?
About the whole "they're just pretending so they can get benefits" bullshit. Did it ever occur to anyone that maybe, just maybe, a man and a woman might pull the same stunt? Food.
How ironic also that Cheney's daughter is a lesbian.
He must be furious at his god!

because under the constitution all men are considered equal and should be treated equally. The only reason why people don't want it to be legal is because of a romantic notion that it is under god and only between a man and a woman, but since state and religion are suppose to be separate than the true definition of marriage should be a union between two consenting adults, unfortunately noone nowadays really believe in the constitution or our four fathers who created it to actually be Americans and have ALL of our citizens free and equal, as our government papers state.

Listen being gay is bad enough for this world.
If the whole world turned gay this world would end.
Man +woman=a baby
Men+men=sickness Women +women=sickness
If two people of the same sex were together how would they reproduce? If they get married theres more torture to this world.Gods plan was for man and woman to be together. Why do you think it takes only a man and a woman to create a baby.A sperm and an egg creates a baby. Not a sperm and a sperm and an egg and a egg.

I am against gay marriage honestly. Biologically men and women are supposed to be together to reproduce and until two people of the same gender can produce offspring with both of their DNA I will not be convinced they should be given the same rights.

Being "gay" is alright, I hate the people who complain "Oh god didn't want it!".
Homosexuality happens with animals too, my 2 guppies named Adam and Steve (go figure) are constantly flirting with eachother, and when Steve passed away (Suicide I am afraid, jumped out and shriveled up on the carpet) he was very depressed and isn't very happy anymore...
As for the rights, anyone should be able to get married to anyone, male or female.
