When I was your age, I read all the Agatha Christie novels. They are kind of old, and kind of British, but they are classic mysteries. Not too bloody and gross, lots of clever plot twists. A lot of newer mysteries seem to have gotten their ideas from Agatha Christie. You can probably find these in your public library.

Do you like spooky mysteries? If so, try:

Ghost trilogy by Bruce Coville
#1 The Ghost in the Third Row
#2 The Ghost Wore Gray
#3 The Ghost in the Brass Bed

John Bellairs books, including The Mummy, the Will, and the Crypt

Mary Downing Hahn books, including The Doll in the Garden

This book involves past lives and is very cool:

Sisters, Long Ago by Peg Kehret

Standard mystery series you should try:
Nancy Drew
Hardy Boys
Meg
Cherry Ames

King Fortis the Brave is a great book about a pair of twelve-year-old twins that are brought into a magical world where they find themselves caught in a battle for control of the land. Full of adventure and humor, it is perfect for someone eleven going on twelve (and I know a lot of adults who have enjoyed it as well)

As you can guess by the plot, it's more fantasy than mystery, but there is a mystery element to it. One of the twins is thought to be the ancient hero King Fortis and he has to figure out why Archimagus, the most powerful magician on the planet, is so sure that he is Fortis.

Well, this one is one of my favourites, I read it when I was 12
The Eyes of The Dragon, by Stephen King, it's not horror, he wrote it for his daughter as a present for her 12th ( I think) birthday, it's great, read the review here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Eyes_of_the_Dragon

And try also The City of the Beast by Isabel Allende, is an action/mystery story, really great, and is the first part of a trilogy, there's also "The Kingdom of the Golden Dragon" and "The Forest of the Pygmies" It starts a bit dramatic, doesn't look like mystery at first, but then they go to the Amazon and it changes.
Read about it here:

You could always go for the classics and read Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys and Trixie Belden and The Bobbsey books and the Boxcar Children. Always good wholesome mysteries for someone your age.
