So what does the whole anti-semetic thing have to do with Mel's DUI??? If he were anti-mormon or anti-arab would anyone have made such a big deal or is it that Jews are 'special' and that they shouldnt be picked on??? Besides this case should just be about his DUI, or do you think differently??? What about free speech or are Jews exempt??

It should not have anything to do with it. He was intoxicated and running his mouth at the time. What he said during his altercation with the cops should have never been revealed outside of a court room. No ones perfect and we all mess up sometimes. He really has messed up I hope he can get over the alcohol problem this could be a downward spiral

Oh please, I did not really just read the free speech card. You know, I am not Jewish. But, if you know anything about history and have a heart. You'd realize that slanderous remarks about the Jewish people are unacceptable.

Any culture that has had the horrifying, unspeakable, unthinkable atrocities committed against their culture and race as the Jewish people have deserve to be given the respect and honor they deserve.

So, when someone in the public eye goes around saying racial remarks against them. You bet, people, and not just the Jewish people, but everyone, has, not only the right, but the obligation to stand up and notice and say that is wrong.

Yes, Mel behaved despicably b/c he was drunk. But that is how Jewish people were persecuted initially. B/c other cultures didn't stand up to a remark here and a remark there. A violent act here and a violent act there.

It makes me cry just thinking about it.

What happened to the Jewish people, in my opinion, is one of the more sadistic and despicable things to happen in the nature of human kind. So when an individual, anyone, drunk Mel or not, stands up and publicly makes such derogatory comments, I would hope that infuriates everyone and not just me.

Yes, DUI is dangerous, but so are hate crimes and hate speech. When any of us is attacked as Mel Gibson did in his comments about the Jewish people, he is attacking is all, because we are all part of humanity.

You can't play Tit-for-tat on this.Look at it anyway you want and Mel comes out looking like a pompous Dick.I love his movies. The Patriot is one of my favorites but he's wrong and ther ain't no excusing it.

Although what you are saying is a bit strong.. but man 2 thumbs up..you just got it right..
The freedom of speech is limited by some unofficial rules.. so there is not really freedom of speech.
