I work for an inventory company but we don't have a union, so they do anything they want to us. They know we can't do anything about it. They cut our hours, drop our wages make us take to many lunches and many other things.

It is pretty hard to do something like that. You probably would be better off going to the AFL/CIO building and signing up in the various union offices for work. They all have waiting lists, you pay a nominal fee to get on the list, then when companies are looking for union workers, they call you and send you out to those jobs.

The roofing industry is generally the easiest to get into, but you have to be a very good worker, or you won't get past the first day or two.

Union wages and benefits are excellent in all the trades. That's why it's not easy to get in, but it is certainly worth trying. The more people who go for union jobs, the harder it will be for these other companies to find good workers!!

GO FOR IT !!

OMG I used to work for an inventory company in Ontario, I worked there for 3 years!! They abused their workers like no other company. Waking us at 4am and skipping our breaks and lunches that we dont get paid for, making us work like dogs and there was always someone breathing down our neck. I was really really part time, like I went whenever I felt like it so I couldn't complain too much but I felt sorry for the hard workers. No one got their raise on time, in fact, most employees never got their promised periodic raise!
I seriously thought about unionizing the workplace. Im an employment relations major at UofT so I learned all about how to unionize a workplace and how much better our lives would be after we unionized. Your pay goes up, they can't fire you so theres much more job security, and they start treating you like people. Unionizing is even good for the entire society.
Its NOT HARD to get started and don't hesitate to make a difference. I jsut quit my job but i regret it now, i could've changed so much. I could've been a leader. It's gonna be one hell of an achievement so don't let go of this great idea. You just have to silently get as many employees as you can on your side. Meaning: without letting the supervisors etc know about your unionizing intentions, talk to other employees who wont rat out. Discuss your workplace issues with them and if you feel that the majority is under the same stress as you are, you're in good shape.
If however, any of the supervisors/bosses find out or hear "union", you're likely gonna be fired so be careful. they can only fire you BEFORE you unionize. The rest of the procedure and the benefits of unionizing depend on where you live. If you live in Canada, call this number : 1-877-449-8990. Its the national toll free number for PSAC (Public Service Alliance of Canada).
They'll take you through the rest. Trust me, its not hard, it takes dedication and determination. Don't let them exploit you forever!

I'm from toledo so my area of the country is huge into unions now their is different branches like the pipe fitters union / carpentry etc... So you'll need to find the type of union which represents your type of industy . I'm sure if you called any of they they would point you in the right direction. your company legal has to allow them into the company to basically talk with everyone and ulitmately it's put up to a vote if the vote passes you have a union and you start electing union reps which if someone has a grievance they'd go to that rep. Now the crappy part is regean completely screwed the unions by deregulating them. They still have some power but it's harder for them to make a difference which is crappy

contact a union rep, get all of the employees to agree to join the union,

Of course if they find out about it, be sure they will figure a way to find something you are doing wrong and you will be fired.
