I like rats and pigs, but rats especially. Hermit crabs are fine, but have never interested me.
I work at a pet store, have two rats, and live out in the country, so I have quite a bit of experience with all three.
Both pigs and rats are surprisingly intelligent and social animals.

Hermit crabs... of the options you gave, they are the only ones who do not stink.. do not carry disease and bacteria and do not poo and pee everywhere.

Pot belly piggies. Had one for 8 years. If you are thinking of getting one-better be ready for the commitment. They live a looooooong time. Easy to train, smart, affectionate. Don't over feed....they'll eat as much as you give them. Make sure there is a vet in your area that will care for it. They make great pets!!!!

Rats, I used to have two of them. There actually pretty smart, and easy to train.
