alright...about 2 years ago i convinced my parents to buy me an $800 computer for gaming and made the payments myself. but it quickly became the family computer due to its speed and reliability. i complained and got my parents to pay the remaining $300. Now 2 years later its still the family computer, they have refused to buy another one. since i want my own computer, i bought a brand new one for them. I called my dad to see if he wanted to pay the extra $50 for a flat panel moniter nd he agreed. but i have decided that i would like to keep the monitor for myself. (they have not paid anything yet and i just shelled out $40 for a wirless card). should i stand up to my dad and keep the moniter (i can tell he wants it and will be mad if i change my mind and keep it) or should they get it since i kind of offered it to them?

Sorry, I know you want the monitor but you made a deal. You can't go back on it now unless you don't want your word to be worth anything.

You made an offer and you should keep it. People throughout your life will judge you on your promises. If you can't be trusted they will treat you as such. You can always come up with the cash for another monitor. Plus, they are dropping in price every day it seems. So do the right thing and let your dad have the monitor. If you let him know how much you wanted it for yourself he might surprise you. Then you would win both ways.

You made a deal, yes. So did your father- to pay the extra 50.00, he has not paid you , therefore you do not OWE him the monitor. Course unless you say something to the contrary if he hands you the fifty, you should give him the monitor. Dont make a deal you are not prepared to stand behind.

What happend to all the other payments you made and its not even yours. You got cheated. They owe you something. If your original deal was to have your own computer and it ended up being everyone elses and you paid $500 into it, then bring it to thier attention. Its not right to take the monitor unless you have permission, but they owe you something. Bring it to thier attention. You got robbed.
