Seriously, they come in here, they tell us that we chose this life and that we weren't born this way. I'd like to know how they know such a thing? Was there a point in everyone's life where the straight bus stopped and we all just forgot to get on? With all the research out there pointing towards genes and biological factors, the only arguement they can come up with is it's a sin. Well ya know what, not everyone believes in god or the bible, so why do they feel the need to cram it in our face?
The bible also tells them not to judge and to love thy fellow man. Apparently they missed that part because they were so focused on the part that talked about homosexuals. And as far as I knew, the bible only speaks of homosexuality as being wrong in the pretense of sexual misconduct, not being wrong between two loving consenting adults.
So I ask, how do the bible thumpers have more expertise on gayness then gay people do? Unless they're just deeply closeted?

To James P:
Please explain to me how it's wrong? If you're speaking of morals, well, not everyone has the same morals, so don't force your beliefs onto me. Not everyone believes in god, agreed?

"...With all the research out there pointing towards genes and biological factors, the only argument they can come up with is it's a sin."
There is a difference is research and results. There are researchers all over the globe trying to prove that homosexuality is genetic. None have. Only one came close & his work was found to be flawed & therefore invalid (Dr. Dean Hamer, 1993 - see below).
So where are your results?
As far as the Bible is concerned, it speaks of all sex outside marriage as being sinful. Since marriage is between man & woman, that precludes any biblical approval for homosexuality.
I don't judge you - you are free to live the lifestyle you choose. Just don't ask me to approve of it any more than I approve of unmarried couples shacking up. You can call it what you want to but it has never changed from what it really is - playing house until it gets old for one party, then moving on.
Does that sound judgmental? I have friends I love dearly who live in these situations - straight & gay couples alike. That's right, friends, who I love and cherish. Do I condone what they are doing? No. Do I love them any less? Of course not. Do they know I disagree with their choices? We wouldn't be very good friends if they didn't would they? So I do love others. That's my job as a Christian. And I don't judge - that's God's job.
And until you get more evidence than someone's hypotheses that homosexuality is an inborn trait, I stand by my opinion.

What research ????????????
Visit an aids hospital and talk with the nurses who nurse gay men. Ask them about how this life style ravages and effects the anatomy of the body. Especially those who have been practising this lifestyle for many years. And I am not referring to aids or other diseases. There are also the Psychological effects as well. The plumbing was designed for Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve. So pointing the finger at bible thumpers and sin is a cop-out and your way of justifying an unhealthy lifestyle. There are consequences for both gay and straight, who violate our moral conscience

You know what bugs me? When someone meets two maybe three Christians and those Christians judge them. Then that person assumes all Christians are the same way. It's like, saying I'm in a gang and I'm gonna shoot you cuz I'm black. I mean, c'mon. I love people and I don't give a damn if they are gay, straight, what ever. I just don't agree with that lifestyle okay? If my best friend thinks rock and roll is the best kind of music, I'm not gonna say, "I hate you! Rap's SO much better!" and never talk to herhim again. No, I'm gonna say that's your opinion and go on a still love her/him. I've never been gay so I don't know anything about it. I just know that it's wrong according to God's word. And just so you know I said homosexuality is wrong, not you as a person. So buddy, don't judge all Christians okay. I have no problem with you.

You're preaching to the choir.
Many lesbian, bisexual, straight, and gay people are Christians though and know about how God made all his children just the way he/she wants them. God is love.
Edit in from another post (could be helpful):
People fear what they don't understand. Sometimes that fear turns into hate because they are scared of the unknown thing. The haters need to be educated on the issues.
There is this camp for kids called "Seeds of Peace" that may help the Middle East conflicts with education as the key. I posted a question about it.

You are correct that the Bible says not to judge. God loves the sinner and hates the sin. And, we are ALL sinners, according to the Bible. That's why we needed a Savior.
The Bible is clear on homosexuality that it is, indeed a sin. It is also clear on the fact that if a man merely looks at a woman and lusts after her in his heart, he has committed adultery. It is clear also that hatred is equal to murder and that there are no degrees of sin-they are all equally horrible.
The Bible is very tough on its stance against sin. Again, more proof that we are not able in and of ourselves to live up to that standard.
I think that some people have their own anger issues to deal with and, unfortunately, they then feel very self-righteous in bashing other people with hate in the name of God.
All I can say is this. If you are interested in knowing who God really is. Ask him. If you want to know what the Bible REALLY says about homosexuality, read it yourself-in context.
If you are not interested (don't believe it, atheist, whatever) then don't look for your defense there, either.

First, it doesn't matter whether homosexuals are born that way. Homosexual behavior is wrong regardless of where the inner promptings toward that behavior come from.
Second, the Bible is clearly against homosexual behavior in both the OT and the NT. Homosexual behavior IS sexual misconduct according to the Bible.

I think you addressed your topic to the wrong people. Not all straight people are Christians. The whole of straight people aren't against you. Just some of them. *lol* I've found that alot of homophobes just make assumptions about gay people because they're afraid to actually talk to them. My best friend is gay and this guy we know always acts real funny around him. I've told this guy time and time again that my friend never "imposes" himself on anyone who isn't comfortable. That wasn't always the case but I've helped him see that making people uncomfortable won't win him any friends. Don't judge straight folks too harshly. They're just as lost and confused as you are in life. :o)

Exactly. Even if you say that they don't believe in the bible, they are still going to quote from it and say it's wrong in so and so passage. The first ammendment clearly says that no law can be made respecting a certain religion. But the Christians have their hands up Dubya and his Cabinet's asses like friggen puppets to create laws that they see fit. I hate religion, I believe in God. God didn't talk to the crazy men who wrote the stupid bible.

Yes that is a good question. I am Christian myself, and I will ask your question another way if you do not mind. Why do the 'rich' know so much about the work habits of the 'poor?'
None of us should be judging another. God is the one who does the judging, of ALL of us. Christians have this tendency, but we are grossly lacking humility if we do so.
IF we are disciples of Christ or at least trying to be, we have to extract the rafter from our own eye before we remove the straw from another person's eye. We are all imperfect people. We are all accountable for our 'own' actions - and it is not our business to be judging the actions of anyone else.

Why do gay people always say to people that object to their sexual habits that the must be gay ? Why do you assume all christian people are bible thumpers and judge gays ? I have never heard one gay be man enough to say it might not be right but I do it anyway. Your grouping us against them makes you a bigot just as bad as the bigots you hate.
