When I got divorced ( i was married and had 1 child) my lawyer said skip the alimony. Since you have a child you would get more money in child support. Best advice I ever got my child support was 1200.00 month, If I had taken the Alimony it would of been significantly less. I was married for 2 years.

The man also needs alimony too. He put as much into it as you.

depends on the state AND in order to get it you have to prove you had no part in the breakup of the marriage and didn't work as he totally supported you. Even if you do get it it is usually only for a matter of months or a couple of years tops.
