people extract platinum from convertors and then sell it for scrap how can you get the platinum separated from the other parts inside a catalytic covertor???please describe the process to me if you know how

There is only ~5-10 Dollar's worth of platinum in those things. It is generally not worth the trouble unless you have alot of them, I mean at least several hundred of them.

You use aqua regia, a mixture of powerful acids which can dissolve metals like gold and platinum. Then you neutralize the acids and the metal will precipitate out of the solution as a salt. Then it can be smelted and refined again. It's nothing to fool around with at home. You could blind or scar yourself for life with the acid, I warn you, I plead with you not to try it.
