I see about half of the replies to a hypothetical question are open minded , without having to resort to name calling or changing the subject. These people help their cause. Whether I agree with it or not.

i can't help that i'm attracted to the opposite sex, or any other physical preference i might have.

i don't believe that homosexuals have the choice. it's as natural as a heterosexual man being attracted to a female, you cannot help what you find physically appealing.

it is what you DO with those attractions that matters. things like pedophilia and beastiality are immoral because the objects of desire aren't capable of making mature decisions.

a child isn't capable of reasoning in such a mature way as to consent to sex. neither can an animal. because of that, it's immoral to act on those feelings... even if the person can't help having them.

Also, being gay is not a problem. It does not hurt anyone. 'Don't like gays? Don't marry one!'

There is no relation between being gay and bein a pedophile. Most pedophiles are actually heterosexual.

If you are an inactive pedophile, it is not your fault, and I praise you for not acting on your feelings. It is usually cause by trauma in early years. I would talk to a psychiatrist, but don't be too down on yourself. I don't think it is too important as long as you never ever act on it. It is probably something that you can work through with time and effort. I think it is irrelevant (I'm sorry if I spelled that wrong, I think I did, but I'm in a hurry) whether you were 'born a pedophile' or not. I encourage you to seek help, but I do not look down on you so long as you do not act upon your feelings.

I also do not think it matters whether someone was "born gay" or not. Who cares?

I believe that being a pedophile means that you have acted or have contemplated on the sexual abuse of a child which doesn't make this something you are born with, it makes you sick! Weather you think you were born gay or not (even though it's against my religion) I don't think being gay makes you sick, But a pedophile is sick! So to answer you question " No I don't think you can be born a pedophile, I don't even think its OK to be a pedophile"! Cause being gay doesn't take the innocence of children, being a pedophile does...

Being gay, while still controversial, consists of an act between consenting adults. Being a pedophile abuses children who don't understand why is happening to them. One is consentual, the other is a predatory crime that kills the soul of the innocent.

And to another, pedophilia has the lowest percentage of treatability of ALL mental disorders. You can not cure a pedophile. They will continue to molest babies forever. Even gay people turn from being gay sometimes, but child molestors don't. They should be burned! Slowly!

I don't know, I tend to think of a pedophile as someone that means to do harm and even if he doesn't act out his desires I think that it is still pretty bad to fantasize about little innocent children, and sooner or later they will attempt to act out. So I will not think it is ok at all too be a pedophile versus being gay.

Of course it is OK if you are born gay. Whatever happens between two consenting adults, shouldn't have anything to do with anyone else.
However, when an adult takes advantage of a young innocent child who is too young to know about sexuality and such like, thats when there is a major problem.

No it's not OK, not even the word gay is not OK, gay is a cover up for those people who are not gay at all, they are a bunch of sadist and sodomites.
Gay is the gender from musculine to feminine, that have nothing to do with sex perversion. Being born GAY is very normal. Being vicious don't make you a gay!
Gay people could get married and have children of their own, that makes them very normal.
Hermaphrodites are not gays, they have my permission to go with a man or a woman or someone like them, I see no guilt on these beautiful humans.

Hmm...let's see...so you're comparing being gay with sexually molesting a minor...HELLO!
NO! How can you even compare the two? What does one have to do with the other? That's like saying if you're born straight then it would be acceptable to sexually abuse a minor. By the way, in nearly ALL cases of pedophilia the perp is heterosexual (not to mention Catholic in many cases).
If you having "desires" (and I'm not talking about being gay) then I would highly suggest you go see a therapist - NOW!
